LA Tech's embarassing academic's
Now that it's no longer game day and I can't be accused of gloating, what kind of dumpster fire is Skip Holtz running? Did he learn from UNC while he was in Carolina? I mean what sort of sorry program lets FIVE PLAYERS lose eligibility? I mean at least act like going to school means a damn thing La. Tech!!!

And you whiners who ***** about Marshall taking props (and graduating them) need to shut your pie holes.

C.mon man....we don't know the situation. It sucks they weren't eligible but you cant point the blame at Skip. At the end of the day its up to the student to show up for class and get their grades. Hopefully those young men realize the mistake they made and go back and finish up to get their degree. That's what we should all be hoping for. To come that far and not get a degree would be a travesty.

I have no inside information, but 4 of them were Seniors who were signed from JUCOs last year. I don't think they came to Tech to graduate, but just to play football. A couple of others just didn't make their grades this quarter, which isn't uncommon.

I have no idea how old you are, but your OP sounds very immature. I've lived long enough to know not to gloat in another person (or in this case, school's) misfortune. Whether it's grades or misconduct, never NEVER say what "yours" won't do.

That's not the point. The point is that kids sometime do stupid things and not attending class is one of them. No reason at all to throw this up in the face of La Tech fans on a message board the day after a tough loss. Every La Tech fan I met yesterday was great and I wish them the best. I think we've created a nice football rivalry with La Tech. Hopefully those kids realize the mistake they made and go back to finish the degree.

That would make sense.

RE: LA Tech's embarassing academic's
I have seen posts from a Greg H on a Marshall message board, and the above post is typical of some of his immature posts.

It was embarrassing for the school though and I'm sure it will be corrected.

RE: LA Tech's embarassing academic's
Not making grades is not "misfortune." It's pathetic. And five STARTERS? That is a massive failure of the program to police itself. And yes, the FANS should have a lot to say about it. Most of the guys I work with went to UNC, and to a man, they are furious. Many have stopped giving. Tech fans should raise hell that Holtz and crew are crapping on whatever academic reputation Tech has.

BTW, 5 starters is no a "couple" of guys. It's 1/4 of you starting lineup. That's an indication that your program is an absolute farse. Say what you want about Doc, but his players ARE students.

RE: LA Tech's embarassing academic's
I suspect what GregH was trying to say is something along the lines of:

How is it that any program at this level doesn't have in place a structure that allows for the monitoring of its athletes in the classroom is such a manner that problems can be identified and addressed early enough that the coach and team are not faced with the loss of several starters for the championship game?

LaTech probably does have such a program, though it was still alarming to me to read about those who were lost for the game....including the possibility at one point that the lead running back Dixon might be ineligible.

Considering that you write on a 5th grade level and you deduce at an 8th grade level, let's wait until you reach college before you tell us how tough it is.

Attendance, academics, and NCAA violations posts on sports message boards are the most inane subjects ever penned and are usually initiated to troll. In case you haven't noticed Greg, we ALL have issues.

I'm quite sure The University is investigating. Anything else a FAN could add, and certainly on a fan board, is strictly opinion and really beyond our control. The OP wants Tech fans to "speak to this" and we are not in a position to do so.

You are correct. Especially for the Tier I Academic Institution that La Tech is. I know that being a UL-L fan, you wouldn't know anything about Tier I academics, but I can assure you, La Tech will correct this situation pronto.

BR's just a little butthurt that I laugh at his predictions which are usually so miserably wrong that a non-betting man would consider a trip to Vegas just to take advantage of his 'tips'.

No harm done.04-cheers

RE: LA Tech's embarassing academic's
dumb***,
Louisiana Tech is the only FBS school on the quarter system. Therefore our players grades come out before everyone else's. Almost EVERY school will have players who don't make their grades, decide they don't "need" to go to class,... Those individuals will pay a price for their bad decision.

Your team will have players who make the same bad decisions, but Louisiana Tech's will ALWAYS be the FIRST announced due to grades coming out earlier in the quarter system.
