And you whiners who ***** about Marshall taking props (and graduating them) need to shut your pie holes.

Classy post - maybe you should be glad they were out yesterday?

You realize the whole UNC thing is because they didn't go to class AND were eligible?

Louisiana Tech is the only FBS school on the quarter system. Therefore our players grades come out before everyone else's. Almost EVERY school will have players who don't make their grades, decide they don't "need" to go to class,... Those individuals will pay a price for their bad decision.

Your team will have players who make the same bad decisions, but Louisiana Tech's will ALWAYS be the FIRST announced due to grades coming out earlier in the quarter system.

Your post makes too much sense and I surprised we are the only school left on the quarter system

I think Oregon is as well. May be wrong on that though.

RE: LA Tech's embarassing academic's
The major problem was the football players getting it in their head they are special. The problem is the guys that didn't make grades did not respect the professor enough to show up to class or study for the tests. The football team is treated no different than any student at Tech. If you put forth the effort to pass a class, you will pass and if you don't no bowl for you.

This will serve as a warning that the players need to take care of their business in the classroom. We will not have this problem again since now the players know they will not get special treatment.

Maybe we could make up some classes and graduate illiterate players like UNC. Just kidding.

RE: LA Tech's embarassing academic's
This takes some of the embarrassment of those individuals away:

"Louisiana Tech football student-athletes achieved a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 77 percent - the highest among all of Louisiana's Division I football-playing public institutions and fourth highest in Conference USA behind only Rice, UT-San Antonio and Middle Tennessee State."

"Our philosophy is to develop champions in the classroom, on the playing fields and in life," said Louisiana Tech Athletics Director Tommy McClelland. "Louisiana Tech's student-athletes simply complement the University's impressive academic reputation in the state, region and nation. We are very proud of the hard work of all of our student-athletes as well as that of our faculty, coaches and staff."

RE: LA Tech's embarassing academic's
Anyone who is taking jabs at CUSA schools athletes well except may be Rice(we all know Rice is really good at academics) not being good at academics should take a look at themselves in the mirror and try not to look silly like Vinklevoss twins. We are not Stanford's, Cambridge's and MIT's of the world and hence our student athletes will not be academic standouts and if there are they may be exceptions not the rules.

RE: LA Tech's embarassing academic's
The root of this is....wait for it...TV and the millions of dollars it promises for success... Every school has its skeletons...Players are made to feel like prima donnas while being recruited, therefore the sense of entitlement coupled with the pressure on the coaches to produce a winning product and to keep the blue chippers happy so they stay... And then there are the boosters who have the ear of the powers that be...This is a business now...They oughtta just s^%t or get off of the pot and treat it as such...

It's hard to really fault the kids...because that is exactly what they are...kids in mens' bodies.. The only thing I can really hold them accountable for is going to class and following team rules...That takes discipline and the ability for the coaching staff to break them down and build them back up...

When a kid is a blue chip athlete, its hard for them not to have a sense of being special when you have these major schools beating down the door and promising the world...

RE: LA Tech's embarassing academic's
According to the list at the link below, here are the FBS quarter system universities:

Louisiana Tech
Northwestern
Oregon
Oregon State
Stanford
UCLA
Washington

http://www.collegexpress.com/lists/list/...ystem/243/

Louisiana Tech is the only school on that list which ends its Fall Quarter during the football regular season before Thanksgiving. All of the others start Fall Quarter in late September (or early October at UCLA) and end it in mid-to-late December.
