Honestly, very few will notice either one.

beating 6-6 pennstate or florida, will get you 10x more notice than beating a 9-3 mac team
beating byu with taysom who would have likey been top 15 if healthy (remember this was done when he was healthy)...woud have done more than any g5 even marshall

you might not remember we used to post threads hoping BYU would lose 1 game so they wouldnt get an atlarge earlirer in the season...BYU isnt texas but they have larger name recognition than any G5

20 years from now, no one will remember that BYU's qb was out if they lose to a AAC team in a bowl game.
How many people remember that when Tennessee played Florida State for a BCS championship, that Florida State was playing behind its 3rd string qb in that game?

depends how good he was, people still remember detmer...
houston fans still talk about playing joe montana in the cotton bowl..
taysom was #4 in heismanology, who knows what his legacy would have been if healthy

and 20years from now byu will be in a top league and this bowl game will look better than it should have

I'm trying to do the math here--81 bowl eligible teams and 76 spots, right? And UAB is officially out. Ohio and MTSU are out. Who are the other bubble G5 teams? Is it just Texas State?

It's a shame if there isn't anymore besides Texas State. If only Oklahoma had held onto that lead yesterday we'd be in.

and we traded #5 c-usa tam and #4 Mac for a team that was favored to finish 11-1 and top 15 preseason ..and averages 60k a game ...

and we only had 4 bowl teams last year (we had 5 bowl spots a shot at the access and 3 backups for this year)

Illinios is projected to be in the Quick Lane bowl by both ESPN analysts. We are trying to call ourselves the 6th conference. What will be more visible? That an AAC team is playing BYU, or that other smaller conferences are sending more teams to bowls while an AAC bowl eligible team stays home.

Honestly, I get your point about 6-6 teams going to bowls. But you can really talk about relevancy of all bowls outside of the Access bowls.
and sbnations and cbssports sports projected illinois staying home (cbs updated 10 minutes ago and changed it though)

& MWC is the only one sending more..all other g5 only doing 4

So this is different from what I said how?

mwc got the access beyond that its the same, a potenial p5 team might stay home...thats pretty different than what you said...and you realize that we have 7 bowl spots next year (not inlcuding backups or access) and 8 starting in 2016 (not inlcuding backups or access)

"A potential P5 team might stay home".....sounds convincing.

Illinios will be in.....You can bank on it!

And the conference that we are trying to distance ourselves from is sending more teams to a bowl. And for what? A BYU team that wants to make little of a commitment to the AAC.

It is what it is.

Think it's pretty official that Temple's out...both Rhule and Tyler Matakevich tweeted about how proud they were of the team, etc:

"Tyler Matakevich @44_Matakevich

This feeling hurts more than anything, love this team no matter what, honor to call y'all brothers! Just the beginning of something special!"

"Matt RhuleVerified account ‏@CoachMattRhule

Thank you to our seniors. Classy in the face of adversity. Beat a Top 25 team, an SEC team, Won 6 games - but today was their finest hour."

Just confirms we are a small time league...or low class.

Nothing screams small time league more than having a small time program like Temple playing in it. Remember when you guys got kicked out of the Big East?

I don't think he's a Temple fan much-less an AAC fan.

Point? Temple had huge advantages over UC yet still is only 9-7-1. On top of that, since UC finally decided to be serious about football they are 5-0 against the Owls.

Not many. UC just finally hit .500 in all time football record after 15 years of way above average football. Goes to show how bad UC football was from the 60's through the 90's.

I'd be pissed if I were a Temple fan, a trip to the Bahamas sounds fun.

2008 Memphis made the St Pete Bowl with a 6-6 record...and that was out of CUSA.

But next year we'll have 7 bowls for 12 teams...shouldn't be a problem going forward
