Actually, we return quite a bit, Offensively, we lose Cato, Shuler, Jasperse, and Frohnapple. Foster (big on the TD game Winning drive today) steps in for Shuler, Collins for Jasperse, and Yorachek split time with Frohnapple. We return all three running backs, both our deep threats and depth at wide receiver, and most of the offensive line. Offensively, we'll be schemed the same with Michael Birdsong, who is probably more of a real dual threat to run than Cato, as the likely started next year.

We return the defensive secondary with the exception of Darryl Roberts, who will be selected in the NFL draft next year,. We have some work to do to solidify the defensive line and the MLB position.

We have enough pieces returning that we should be in the same competitive range next year, though when you think of team captains and leadership, one generally looks at QB, C, MLB, etc. and those are the holes. If we can get production from those positions, we'll be okay next year and a threat to defend the title.

Losing Jasperse is huge. I think we may actually see an improvement at QB.

But I remember a lot of Marshall fans claiming that you guys would to undefeated.

I though you might be right, come the Western game. Thought they had no shot to beat you.

I sure wish your big RB didn't play against us.....03-banghead

Tough as hell to go undefeated. In any conference.

Actually, if you go back through the posts, most Marshall fans said just the opposite. There were a lot of CUSA fans that said we would go undefeated, but the Marshall fans, having done it before, knew just how hard it is. We knew we had to go undefeated to get the access, but most said it would be unlikely that we would. However, we felt we could win each game as we saw them unfold.

That said, if I claimed before the season that we would go undefeated and you told me that we would lose one game by one point in OT, I would probably have been ok with that.

This thread is probably the most full of predictions. You'll find it's not us saying we will be undefeated. We were villianized for doing well, as is often the case. And also often the case the revisionist's history attributes all the talk of what Marshall would do to Marshall fans. Hell, we didn't even start most of the threads discussing the possibilities.\

Yeah it is. No more free penalties from our Center of all people jumping off sides.

I think the concensus was a 13-0/12-1 and conference championship-type season and that's more or less what we got. I will say that it did seem we lost our focus or edge at the end of the year. We've had 8 turnover or stupid mistakes that resulted in 7 touchdowns the last three games. I know turnovers are part of the game, but we weren't making those same mental mistakes for the first three-quarters of the year.

I think the consensus pick for Marshall next year will be a 10-2/9-3 type season. We should still be a strong contender, if not the favorite, to win the east next year. Our schedule flips, we so will have to travel to MTSU, WKU, and FAU (probably the three toughest challengers in the east) and someone in the west (if the scheduling trend from last year holds they may send us to La Tech). So our toughest conference games will likely be road games next year. We open at home against Purdue, a game that I think we probably should win.

I can't comprehend how the guy that starts literally every play can jump early. You're the only person on the field that knows exactly when the ball will be snapped!!!

If you're referring to false starts on the center, he is probably moving the ball without snapping it.

Yeah he's twitching it as he points out coverage before the snap. Bad habit that always seems to happen on a third down blitz, leaving us with a lot of 3rd and shorts becoming third and longs. Need to trust that the line has the blitz covered. Rather take a chance on a five yard sack than get a five yard penalty guaranteed.

No, that's not it at all. Those that watch know exactly what he's talking about.

Yeah it's huge for us.. We won't get a freaking offsides a game from our damn center next year.. That's a big positive!

Seriously Jasperese is a good player but that has frustrated me all year lol

Moving the ball isn't why he's being called, but thanks again for not watching.
