RE: Another good read/opinion on UAB
I think the author did a decent job explaining the problems which UAB has faced over the years in dealing with UAT's outsized ego, and their own (UAT's) failure to ever develop a good basketball program. The second part of the article where he lumped all of the recent (semi-recent) FBS move-ups together and said the only one which looked sustainable is UCF was rubbish. From a ODU perspective, how can he seriously suggest we are doomed to mediocrity when we are only just emerging from our second year of transition? He cites attendance without mentioning that we are at capacity; and says none if us have local support because of the much competition with existing BCS programs. I realize that this article was not about ODU, but we get seriously backhanded nonetheless. He should have ommited the second half of the article, or done the research to write it correctly.

BTW, I have not yet seen many people question some of the items the UAT BOT included in their list of future expenses of operating UAB Football competitively; namely a new Indoor Practice Facility. Really? I suppose UAT's crap is just so deep it's really hard to identify the individual turds.

It is a damn shame that Tuscaloosa has closed down the program in Birmingham. Don't ever believe the NCAA, school administrations, or boards of regents when they say college sports are "for the kids"... here are my thoughts on the first program to be shuttered in two decades.

Zach, that is one of the best summaries I've seen. And I know this; I've written a lot of them this past week. Thank you.
