Did we just become a basketball school while I wasn't paying attention? I kid, I kid.

Two wins inside/around the top 100 for Tulane. Conroy has recovered his reputation after the transfers of 1.5 years ago. It seems like he's cleared out the people that didn't want to be there and has people that actually do.

Always good to get a signature win, even if it is vs a bad SEC team. Watch out UConn !

Mississippi State is a horrible team! Let see what Conroy does when he starts AAC competition. All he has is guards no great centers or power forwards.

Last year we could puff our chests as a conference. This year we suck. Since your a Tulane fan, try to enjoy the wins.

Tulane has two 3* centers coming next season that are 6'-8" or 6'-9" and can move. Help is on the way inside, but there isn't enough THIS season.

Tulane will head into two even MORE important games @ Washington and vs. St. John's. They'll be 9-1 at that juncture (most likely) - and they MUST split these two games if they are to have any postseason hopes.

MSU is probably the worst team in the SEC. Definitely one of the worst 2 or 3 in a 14-team league. So it'll take more than this for me to jump on the bandwagon. But, like the Loyola/Chicago game the other night, this result is encouraging that Tulane MBB is at least headed in the right direction.

Do you have any other information about them (names, where they played HS, etc.)

Agree about the real postseason (NCAA/NIT), but I think those 2 teams are a bridge too far for us, right now.

We could lose both of them, be 9-3, and still be in contention for one of those pay-to-play exhibition-tournaments like CBI or CIT or whatever they're called.

7-1, but 5 of the W's are against teams that would probably go 0-18 if they somehow had to play a conference schedule in this league.

Two decent-ish games so far, plus the opening-night bomb against Wake Forest.

Stanford and Notre Dame. Other than those two, it's very, very difficult for private schools with high academic expectations of its athletes to consistently compete at a high level. In basketball, its easier to string together 2 or 3 national prospects who happen to be honors kids at the same time. The Tulane and Tulsa of college sports, I've said all along would be best served putting their most resources into basketball.

I haven't seen others play, but this Memphis team is a long-term project. Tulane has a legitimate shot this year at moving into the upper echelon.

The scary part is that the AAC is rebuilding this summer and it will get back to where it was.

This season may be the only shot in the next FOUR that a school like a Tulane or a Temple has at winning the AAC.

Between the way the "bottom" has played and the way the "top" has played, this league is a total crapshoot. Everyone looks the same so far.

Considering our coach already wrote off every game in conference as an L you can probably write us off as a W.

Not good - St. Johns and UW are both AP Top 25 teams. I was hoping that one would show some weaknesses and skid a bit (making them an accessible win).

I really think we're on a crash-course for a 9-3 non-conference record and a non-conference RPI of around 95-120.

This is a better team than last year, but they are still 1-2 years away from the postseason. Conroy has shown improvement - but I hope we hold off on an extension until we see some more.

The Huskies play in Las Vegas against Oklahoma on Friday night then against us in Seattle on Sunday. Depending on how grueling the OU game is, I think we have a chance -- less than 50/50 but still -- to catch UW a bit flat.

ECU probably fits that category. We're beyond awful right now.
