Coaches Show
A few interesting statements from Coach K tonight.

1. He said he may add another player to the 2015 recruiting class. Since four players have already signed, which will give us the max of 13, something has to give. Has someone told coach he is leaving mid-season or when the season is over?

2. Mississippi St transfer Dre Applewhite will hopefully be OK'd to play by the McNeese St game on Dec. 20. Coach K said he has some work to do to get playing minutes from the guys in front of him.

3. Coach said that Jon Jon has developed into one of the best defensive players on the team, and often will guard one of the opposing team's best offensive players.

It seems to me that our Spaniard is still just a body on the bench/practice player. Cut him loose. Williams isn't far behind, both would be studs at NAIA schools.

Another thing Coach K said. Luke Knapke, currently 6-10, is still growing and wouldn't be surprised if he reached 7 feet.

The next class is signed, correct?

Gotta think there's more to the story about Aparicio...been an odd situation. Kept hoping he was going to be our "secret weapon" from 3-point range when he finally became eligible and then when he finally became healthy. Maybe all the time away from real competition has just resulted in too much rust at the moment?

Pretty rare that everyone contributes. Williams II looks better than I thought he would and may help next year. Aparacio has had administrative and health woes galore. He may never see the floor much.

Pointing out the deficiencies of Aparacio and Williams is a well worn obvious comment on these boards. I believe in glue guys, guys that may not get minutes but help your team in other ways. Both of these guys must have a 4 year supply of super glue. At this point I'd almost rather take my chances with a couple of freshmen who have few more years to get less clueless than these two do on the floor. I really hate to cut on a kid(s), and my comments seem harsh. I was sort of hoping as well that Aparicio was a hidden gem who we could finally dust off and see what potential has been sitting on the bench. With the incoming freshman and another year of Booth and Garber, Williams will still be on the bench looking up. Heck, Hall is getting more minutes than Williams and we'll see where those minutes end up when Applewhite starts dressing.

YES.

They signed during early signing period in November. 4 players.

Remember, Williams is still only 18 (or may have just turned 19) as a redshirt freshman. He was 17 when stepped on campus and is still developing physically and BB skill wise. He still has 3 1/2 years of playing time ahead of him.

Coach K also mentioned that 2015 Point Guard Signee Jaelan Sanford reminds him a lot of former Marquette University star point guard, Travis Diener who played with Dwayne Wade on the 2003 NCAA Final Four Team. Coach K was an assistant coach on Tom Crean’s staff that year. Diener was a second round NBA Draft Choice in 2005 and floated around the NBA and Italian Leagues before becoming Director of Player Personnel at Marquette earlier this year.

Aubrey is 19 and will turn 20 in early Feb. He is a redshirt So and has 2 1/2 years of eligibilty left. This would be the year for him to step up and win playing time because a bigger bodied backup to Weatherspoon is badly needed. Judging by Aubrey's demeanor in practice, pregame and during his mininal minutes in games I don't think he will be contributing. Nice kid but I have not seen the work ethic needed to be productive at the division I level.

Great! Find the Rockets a Dwayne Wade too!
