The student athletes would be wasting their time. Athletic scholarships are only guaranteed for one year and from year to year. UAB's Administration has already announced thru Clark that all players are welcome to stay and attend UAB for free until they graduate (or until their eligibility is completed)! So what would be the basis of their suit? They do not lose any financial benefits from the discontinuance of the program! CRAFTY DEVILS, aren't they?

I would think they could have some success against the Alabama BOT. Some of the UAB players are NFL level talent and this disruption will mean they have to start over at another school. The others could argue the only reason for choosing UAB their desire to play football there. The thing with lawsuits, there better than playing the lottery cause it doesn't cost anything to play but you might win big.
I say give it a shot, if it costs the BOT anything to defend against the suits it's worth it.

No way they can prove that UAB dropping football hurt their chances at the professional level. Numerous athletes have gone pro at other schools in all levels of the NCAA. They were given an immediate release by the University or told that their scholarship to the school would be honored so I don't see any harm. You can't sue your McDonald's if they close down because of financial troubles causing you to go to Burger King.
