When UCF failed on the 4th down, I turned off the game and went to bed. Sh!t.

That shouldn't have mattered. On 4th down, run the pocket to the furthest side line if you are not going to kick. Go parallel not 15 yards back and keep them pinned back. They should have kicked the FG, even a miss would have been less harmful. I rather risk a blocked FG or KO return getting it to seven and ensuring the worse case scenario was a tie.
