ECU should have been the AAC Champs and the G5 representative in the Access Bowl, but instead they found a way to lose to Temple and then had to watch Cincinnati and UCF win games that ECU had in hand.

Thank goodness for Michael Jordan, Scotty Pippen and Walter Payton or else I would have nothing but memories like tonight. The Bears are getting killed right now and I that I can think of is how does ECU have such a horrible secondary. Oh but we still have Lebo at ECU.

As a fellow ECU/Cubs/Bears fan I feel your pain.

This was definitely one of the strangest ECU teams/seasons in my 40+ years of following them. I have no idea what to expect in the bowl game, but I don't have a lot of confidence right now.

Good game Pirates.

Just enjoy the bowl with your Senior QB and WR.

They are special, and wont be soon replaced.

Might be tough to replace the quarterback and wide receiver, but it will not be tough to replace that secondary. Thank goodness some of that group is graduating.

Maybe not... but they gave a great pose for a future 'Iwo Jima-like' picture that's going to go up on my wall (or screensaver)...

They will be immortalized.

Let's not forget signature gifs too.

The Sixers are the worst team in the NBA
The Flyers are one of the 3 worst teams in the NHL
The Phillies were tied for 6th worst team in MLB (with the Cubs)

The Eagles are good, but tease like this every year. The D isn't good enough to win the Super Bowl.

Obviously a better year for Temple, but we're just average overall.

Not exactly great here, although I'm all for Tankadelphia and the Flyers losing every game to get McDavid or Eichel.

ECU is arguably the hardest team in college football to be a fan of.

Enjoy.

Seriously though I don't know which ECU loss is the most epic: Cincinnati's or UCF's. Either way the ESPN folks got their money's worth from ECU this year.

Yep. They did all the hard work early in the season and had the AAC Championship and Access Bowl in their hands; and then gut busting losses to Temple, Cincinnati and UCF. ECU losses are getting closer and closer to being like Houston's, but ECU stinks to bad at basketball to make it ever come full circle.

I've been a Chicago Cubs fan since 1967. And I've been an SMU season ticket holder on and off since 2000. I've seen my share of losing.

But I've also been a UConn Husky and New England Patriot fan for decades. They've won some championships.

The spring, summer and fall have been brutal for Chicago sports. This Bears season has been an absolute abomination. Fortunately, the Bulls and Blackhawks are both legit title contenders as long as the key guys (D-Rose) are healthy for the playoffs.

I am not a hockey fan. Btw, the Blackhawks have traditionally been decent, but back in the 80's and 90's they were known for tanking too. So it is only recently that they would have been removed from this list anyway.

I'm a Mets/Celtics/Bears/Boston Bruins/UCONN/Quinnipiac Hockey fan. Outside of Quinnipiac, UCONN basketball and the Bruins, its been a rough go for me.

In my generation (I'm in my mid-30s), the late Bill Wirtz, who owned the Blackhawks, was very literally the worst owner in all of pro sports. This wasn't just the typical fan base complaints that "The owner s**ks!" that you see everywhere. ESPN actually put together an objective ranking system for all of the owners in pro sports and Bill Wirtz came in dead last. He wouldn't spend money on the team either in free agency or to retain their great draft picks (i.e. Jeremy Roenick, Ed Belfour). He also blacked out every home game on TV because he was so obsessed with ticket sales. Of course, that meant my generation hardly saw any Hawks games on TV and didn't get any exposure to them, which led to the team actually having the worst attendance in the NHL up until the year that Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews were drafted.

When Bill passed away and his son Rocky took over, though, it was a complete sea change. Home games were immediately put onto TV, the organization hired the Scotty Bowman braintrust (who is arguably considered to be the equivalent of Phil Jackson for hockey), and they went all-in on building a team around Kane and Toews. For someone that grew up with watching the Hawks as being the most inept organization anywhere, it has been blinding how much success that they've had over the past 5 years. You can't even get into the United Center for the nosebleed seats for less than $150 now. It's the most unbelievable sports turnaround that I've seen anywhere.
