Junior McMullen
3-star LB commit Junior McMullen has visited Minnesota and Indiana in recent weeks. I certainly can't blame him. As someone else said in another thread, it would be nice for us to secure/announce a re-negotiated contract with Fleck just to help solidify this year's very good recruiting class (again).

McMullen already has offers from Toledo, Miami (OH), Ohio, BGSU, EMU, CMU, Akron, Cincinnati, NIU, and App. State, and getting looks from Michigan St., Indiana, Minnesota, and Colorado. <-Nice looking sheet if you ask me.

McMullen has been committed since last March (9 months ago). Hope we can hang onto him.

Hope we hold on to his commitment too. I like to look at offer lists, not so much stars, and he has a great list. I was thrilled when we landed him earlier this year.

RE: Junior McMullen
Western's football future looks bright.

McMullen would benefit GREATLY from WMU's rise.

He would get playing time. Play in a bowl. ... and possibly get national attention.

If Franklin had gone to a "bigger" school, he may have watched from the sidelines instead of being recognized nationally for his achievements AS A FRESHMAN.

05-bump

Something's up with McMullen. Visiting with NIU now? I bet we parted ways with him after all the recent B1G visits. I think it's safe to say we can assume he's not going to sign with us:

Big loss on paper, but no question he's a bit of a pre-madonna and brings an ego with him. Maybe it won't end up that big of a loss when it's all said and done.

Fleck talks about how he fights with Bigger Schools all the time for recruits. I don't think a few visits is going to make him give up on McMullen.

Fleck also talks a lot about trust. When kids from last year's 2014 class went and took visits to other schools after they had verbally committed to WMU, that was usually the point where the staff parted ways. I'd be surprised at this point if he stuck.

I'm sorry, but I'm at the point of not being concerned about this young man leaving at all. Fleck will find someone to take the scholarship, and they will be talented. The guy recruits like nobody's business.

RE: Junior McMullen
Cubit and Hawk do/did the same thing. It wasn't so much about trust it was more about they couldn't hold out for one and lose two.

In other words, they had plan B's they could lose if they waited too long. At some point they throw in the towel on plan A and take the bird in the hand in plan B.

That's exactly what happened with Devin Oliver. Hawkins couldn't wait any longer, and threw in the towel. I believe Juwan Howard jr was the plan B.

And this is all speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if Jerry Kill didn't tell McMullen that if he couldn't offer him he should consider NIU.

RE: Junior McMullen
McMullen has a good chance of playing right away at WMU.

Also, the team has momentum going into the future.

He would be close to home and his family and friends could attend games.

I would be surprised if he switched. However, stuff happens.

I'm not sure his relationship with Kill is a two way street.

McMullens size is fine for the Big Ten. Redshirts, adds 10-15 pounds in the weight room he's NFL size and more.

Fleck is a GREAT recruiter. He closes. You can bet money that he HAS and DOES tell kids, if you trip you are not guaranteed a spot. He moves on and makes other offers and asks for the commitment to the next man up. Its very easy to do if all the girls on your list are hot.
