Nope, the wait got extended to Sunday. Probably won't hear anything substantial till Saturday night after a couple select games are completed. New Mexico Bowl matchup vs UTEP has been mentioned but I'm not sure if that was solid information or just hearsay.

Our only shot is if the MWC sends a team to New Orleans to play Lafayette and we take the Idaho, or New Mexico bowl or if the New Orleans bowl takes the at Large Power 5 team and we can take armed forces, otherwise, Rice will trade with MTSU to go to the New Orleans bowl to play Lafayette, and MTSU will go to another CUSA Bowl leaving either Pittsburg, Florida, or Arkansas to take the Armed Forces Bowl and us be the 77th team out along with UAB, Ohio and Temple.

Only help we can get is for Cajun fans to tell the Admin that they don't want to play Rice or a CUSA team in the bowl game

If Alabama makes the playoff and two SEC temas make the "BCS" bowlsm then I don't think SEC will have any teams left over. That would still leave Pitt available for the Armed Forces but I could see NOLA going after them instead. Either way it's looking like we go two years straight of getting left out of a bowl. SBC needs more bowl ties and bowls in the Texas region. Adding the Cure won't help us as GS and App start qualifying. I think this is a situation that gives me thought as to a small reason why CUSA is better for TXST.

Exactly, if Nola doesn't take Pitt, or MWC doesn't send Fresno, we're out, We can't beat Pitt head to head for armed forces, ESPN owns both the heart of dallas and the armed forces, won't pick us over a P5 school. Need to start a grass roots campaign telling fresno fans to send them to new orleans and not new mexico!

It's a flight for them anyway and they'd like NOLA better than ABQ. Seems like a no brainer to me!

Here's more from the ACC perspective. Looks like UNC is not interesting in the Independence Bowl. Shows how Pitt and other could come into play.

I think the best solution is for Arkansas to not go to a bowl. That seems fair to me.

Phil Steele just threw out Cajuns vs Illinois... Not sure where he got that, but I like it. Out of most that have been mentioned, I'd like Rice or Nevada...but Pitt or Illinois wouldn't bother me one bit.

He's also got Texas State vs Houston in the Armed Forces bowl.

Have you ever met someone or seen someone and for really no reason at all you have the urge to slap them? Like, something about their face just makes you want to slap them? That's Bret bielema to me, not sure what it is... It's just his face pisses me off

It's being widely reported that the bowls are not interested in UAB. Because of the FB shut down, they're not sure about what they'll get....

Got one who is no longer on this board that still won't stay off of BCF. Still as immature and obnoxious as ever.

Leopards are 1AA, they won't be in any bowl, much less the NO bowl.

CUSA has a back up in New Orleans. The Bobcats need a MW team to choose New Orleans over the Potato. If they do that, then the slot opposite the MAC would be open in the Potato Bowl. Texas State would be the closest team available from the "at large" pool. The only other chance is that no P5 team is available for the Armed Forces Bowl and CUSA's backup agreement with the Armed Forces Bowl is not active for the 2014 season. That would make Texas St a strong option there.

And they're justified being cautious. These bowls are a once-a-year payday so they'd better get it right. They've also got contractural agreements with television, the teams, the fans, the facility, etc.

Inviting a team like uab might work out great or might be a total disaster. Imagine half the team showing up, or no coaches, or none of the squad showing up at the last minute because of some total breakdown with the administration.
