Did you watch the Ncaa tourn. games, He was also coming in behind what was suppose to be the # 1 pic in the nba till he sprang his back. He is still out with his injury i believe.

His game was always better suited for the NBA. He has more space and an extra foul to work with.

People forget that Todd Mundt played in the NBA and started for the Atlanta Hawks after leaving Memphis. He said leaving helped him to realize how much Coach Finch was right about matters and how he had to man up and mature. Maybe Black went through the same revelation when he went to Kansas and we see the evidence of that growth with the Rockets.

I mean, Tarik made a lot of silly fouls, reaching in, slapping at the ball, but he also had a lot of fouls called on him when an opponent jumped into the bottom of his arm or drove into his chest. Guard-loving college refs have ruined the game.

That's a good post and you make good points but I have no doubt that if Tarik would've signed with a top notch coach (Self, Izzo, Cal, Boeheim, Donovan, etc) out of high school, he would've been developed into a very good college player. Pastner couldn't develop a quality big if his life depended on it. Look at Shaq and Nichols. They are floundering.
