C-USA likely with 6 bowls for 7 teams now
New Orleans will be C-USA if Boise wins and Okie State loses http://www.nola.com/ragincajuns/index.ss...owl_e.html
That gives us:
Boca
Bahamas
Hawai'i
New Orleans
Heart of Dallas
New Mexico
Eligible teams:
UAB
UTEP
Marshall
MT
WKU
Rice
LA Tech
So we have to root of those two games and would have to be chosen over a MT team that beat us.

No. All other teams have 7+ wins, so we can't be chosen over them. MT and UAB are the 6 win teams.

I'm sure New Orleans would love to have us for the travel aspect as well as the story. Also the first bowl game of the season so it would still be a hot story.

Even outside of our story with UAB football ending, the more important fact IMO is that UAB's attendance was better. If I were a bowl committee, that should carry more weight than head to head.

MTSU was screwed last year, though...

Methinks we have been screwed more. Hell, MTSU should decline out of solidarity for our young men whose lives have just been completely upheaved.

That'd be big. Really big, but it'd also mean them not having another bowl game and that seniors would pretty much sitting out on their reward for putting together a successful season.
If there was a team that actually orchestrated something so UAB could have its slot, it'd be one of the most amazing displays of collegiate sportsmanship ever. Naturally, I'm bias but what a story that'd be.
Edit: The more I think about it, the more appealing it'd be for a bowl to pull off that kind of story, especially if they were going to pick UAB because of the current situation anyway.

It won't be an ESPN bowl. They're too deep into the SEC a$$crack. They didn't cover the story until after the announcement even though its the type of story that(years ago) made them...

I think we could get the Armed Forces Bowl. Am I right?

I could see someone giving up a spot for us. The conference should find a way to let both teams travel and enjoy the experience together.

Could you imagine the story if the team that gave up there spot stood with us on the sidelines to cheer us on.
Wow...that would be huge!

We were screwed in 2001 when we beat TCU 38-17. We also finished 5-2 in CUSA and TCU finished 4-3. We both finished 6-5. TCU got a bowl invitation and we did not.

Just spoke to a guy who is a very knowledgable, very intense college sports fan going back to the 1960s. Primary focus on Big Ten and PAC12. He lives in San Diego and has discussed Gene Bartow's career with me before in very glowing terms.
So, I asked what he thought about "the UAB thing" and he didn't know what I was talking about. I gave him a summary-of-a-summary and his first question was "Is Bryant still on the Board?"
So his instincts are spot-on but depressing that he hadn't heard about it already.
