If you like Clark and staff then try to help by going to the Tulsa board and showing support and recommend him getting that job. Hopefully he is on the list but I don't know.

I would rather him end up at Samford.

I can't speak for Coach Clark but he has hinted in several interviews that he intends to stay in Alabama for the next two years to get his state retirement pension.

So he either goes to Samford or becomes the DC of Auburn.

Would going to Samford do any good? I assume he would need to be an employee of the state for 2 years and I thought Samford was private?

My apologies if I'm mistaken on that...

If he does not get a big time job he will be Samford's coach and I may have to re-think my stance on following college football.

Your right Samford is a private university.

UAB will honor his contract for the next two years, which I think would include qualifying him for state retirement.

He could also buy his two years. I had a friend that left UAB, worked somewhere out of state for 5 years, then came back to UAB. He bought his 5 years so he wouldn't have to work longer.

wherever he goes, my support is going with him. As long as it's not in Tuscaloosa.

I wish he'd go to Samford and they would go FBS (D-1A) so Birmingham would have "Big Time" football. Then I would have a college team to support again. Oh well...

So it looks like you guys are only about yourselves and not interested in helping the staff. Guess I overestimated you guys.

Dude...you've had a year to get over losing him and his staff. Our entire program was executed less than 24 hours ago. Forgive us if we're not ready to jump on board to help him load the moving van.

You are so wrong! Coach Clark has my e-mail address and he does many on this board. We will jump to help him, staff and players anyway we can. There's a lot of raw nerves after 20 years of fighting so forgive any sharp responses you might receive. Coach Clark opened many, many eyes as to what UAB Football could be if done right. He and we were not allowed to do it right!

Best wishes to the Jacksonville State folks!

"We will jump to help him,...." So what are you waiting on? The Tulsa AD is not waiting. By the time you feel a little better, Tulsa will have a new coach.

I personally hope he goes to AU (gasp... I know...), but he would get the retirement, and elevate his visibility. But, Samford would also be great, and I would become a HUGE Samford fan!!!
Either way, I'm a huge Bill Clark fan, and will be for a very long time...

He still has a job and possibly (small chance) one more game to coach. Then we can discuss other destinations. Most here would take a bullet for Clark so don't come on here all high and mighty.

That's not the case at all.

I really want Coach Clark and his guys to find success. I'll be elated if he got another job at an institution at the highest level with the resources and administrative support he deserves.

That said, if Tulsa was interested then he'd already be on their radar. If they are browsing forums for suggestions then it might not be the kind of outfit that a coach of his caliber will want to be involved with. I appreciate you wanting to rally everyone to do right by him, but I do believe that he doesn't need our help. Coach Clark, the man, his accomplishments, and what he brings with him, is plenty enough to sell himself.

Your an idiot if you think pimping him on a message board would have any effect
