Teams in a conference title should be before that.

I agree 6-7 division champs should be in before 6-6 1 small FCS or 2 FCS win teams.

No shame for you not knowing but I think its awful for the MAC to be unknowable about it OR just flat out lie.

So again if NU gets a bowl game that means that UB MUST have been picked to a bowl game if they played and defeated Kent St...which the MAC denied them the opportunity to play this Saturday with no schedule conflict.

Heck, both teams played on Friday of last week, meaning you could've had them play this Thursday night (before all Conf Championship games) and it would've worked. For reference, WMU played the Saturday before our Friday game with them, so WMU had the same amount of days between games as both teams would've had in this situation.

Why make it a weekday/night if its not going to be on TV? It could have been a Saturday game where the fans from both sides could have actually attended.

No offense to the Sun Belt, but the #1 conference team should play a P5 #6-7. Our fans dont get excited about it and people dont go outside the hardcores unless its a vacation site.

Well technically, Go Daddy has taken the SBC Champ the last 3 years. The biggest issue is that our conference commissioner is a wuss, who wont actually challenge bowls to do the right thing. Thus, New Orleans gets to take ULL whenever they so desire. Go Daddy has gotten frustrated with that, and is thus taking Arkansas State whenever they so desire.

If you want your #1 to play a P5 team in a bowl, take a number and get in line. P5's pretty much want nothing to do with G5's in bowl games.

I understand Lafayette to New Orleans, but why wouldn't godaddy want the home team? I understand the total financial impact is larger with visitors because hotel rooms, flights, etc. but tickets wise, would south Alabama draw better in their home stadium?

That's sort of why ULL goes to the French quarter every year.

IMO, a team should never be allowed to play in their home stadium for a bowl. Too much of an advantage in what should be at least close to a neutral site game.

I don't really diasagree with that, but I'm just gauging why the committee or conference wouldn't want the home team there.

That's part of a bowl experience though, neutral field, new experience, I agree.

I just remember Boise used to play a home bowl game for like 5 years straight or so.

Anyone who was drooling for NIU to play the Illness in a bowl game...not looking good for Illness. According to an article I read today, Big10 officials say there are not enough bowl games to go around & Illness or Penn State could get left out. More likely Penn will play because their fan base travels really well. Poor flailing Illini.

Wouldn't this make NIU the only team from Illinois to go to a Bowl this year?

Saving for Mobile (NOLA) and Boca. I would be shocked if it wasn't one of those two. Will have to win to get Mobile it pays the most. Go huskies!

They actually turned it on at the end of the season. Their new QB and their good little Bebe-like receiver have done pretty darn well on offense. IMO, right now, they're better than Penn State. But 6-6 Penn State's going to get the last B1G bowl-spot because they have more fans.

Part of U of I sucking is indeed their football program (low hanging fruit). But I was also just saying it in general terms.

You realize Bowl's don't pay the schools a dime right? Go Daddy gives you 750K in Bowl Tickets. If you sell all your tickets, you get 750K. If you don't, well...you don't.

The bowl system is such a scam. I loathe it. Like I loathe the Olympics and the World Cup. (Not the participants or the product, but the horrible scam part.)

If you guys go access...you earn the MAC a lot of money, which they promptly give you enough to break even, and then share the rest with all those other teams who didn't go to a bowl.

If you guys go to Mobile and send a couple hundred fans, you lose a lot of money and are hoping that a MAC team draws a ton of fans to a game and the league has a good revenue sharing policy.

You should see the reactions out of Lafayette when they sell 40K tickets to New Orleans, and then have to share half that cash with Arkansas State and South Alabama this year per the SBC's revenue sharing agreement.

% Chance Fresno upsets Boise: 8%
% Chance Marshall doesn't do enough in LA-Tech Game to Keep a step above NIU: 50%

= 4% chance in my book that NIU will go to the big dance.

Anyone else find it humorous one of their coaches (I think it was Beckman) had the ballz to call the UofI and NW game the state championship? NIU already beat one of them, and I am sure would hand the other a big ole azz whoopin. What a joke. They have all the advantages and still can't win.

I can't imagine Beckman saying that. He knows the MAC, he knows NIU -- would be the most over-reaching arrogant thing in the world -- UNLESS they were calling NIU out to play since everyone knows NIU is the best team in Illinois.

Now, NW coach? He's logically in shackles to say such things. Maybe an over-reaching attempt to butt NIU out of the way -- but, uh, you guys lost to them.

What I'd *love* to see, since UAB is out and there's a traffic jam in bowls -- is Illinois vs NIU.

Us @WMU play Illinois as if it's a secondary CMU. That's what boggles my mind -- and you guys don't! The Bowl Gods -- hear it now! Play them!!!!! (My dad hates NIU, he went to Illinois for 10 years overall getting his PhD and is bitter about NIU but I tell him f'it -- it's MAC West).
