Kevin asked for a simple yes or no answer. Watts response was there were no immediate plans to cut anymore sports. I wouldn't be surprised to see Haase and other coaches at UAB start making plans to exit the university which is probably what Watts wants to happen.

I wouldn't blame them after how Coach Clark and the football team was treated. And what quality coach will want to come to UAB after this BS?

Nah. He'll want to keep men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball, men and women's soccer, men and women's golf, and adding men's track to the existing women's team.

Volleyball might survive. Tennis and sand volleyball are probably done.


If I were Haase I'd tell my agent to be looking for offers.

Will it matter? How would you like to recruit to UAB knowing that every high school kid is going to be shown that team meeting video with Watts. Only a masochist would come to play sports at UAB now.

I'm not sold. It would not surprise me to see UAB Athletics gone before the year 2020.

I wouldn't if I were Haase. And to be honest he hasn't done enough yet to have programs beating down his door. He is just now got his players on campus and is in the process of trying to coach them up. Now would not be the time to go. Now maybe another year or two after some success and depending what happens with Watts and whatever conference we go to, then maybe consider it.

Yep. The ONLY way that recruiting could be reversed is for Watts to be fired, a Carol Garrison type becomes president, and announces reinstatement of football AND plans to build and on-campus stadium. The OCS would show long term support for recruits. If any of this happens, I'll write a check to Sarah Palin's PAC. (It ain't happenin'!)

McGee hadn't done anything either from a HC perspective and got the hell outta dodge. I don't think Haase would mind having that Asst. HC position back at UNC given the leadership at UAB.
