You know what? I posted this because I thought it was heartwarming to see that even a kid knows what is happening. She's also just a kid, to call her stance horrible is just wrong.

I'm also allowed to be as pissed as I want. If some don't think we deserved/earned it, fine. That's why I am staying out of the "argument"

Even a kid knows what is happening? She knows that we might not go bowling? So what. How is that heartwarming in any fashion? My 5 year old niece knows we're not going bowling either. Know what she said to me? "You guys just weren't good enough?" When I told her it looks like it, she said "we'll get them next year."

And no, it's not wrong to say her stance is horrible. It's the truth. It's the mindset of the US today. I WORKED HARD SO I SHOULD GET WHAT I WANT!

Now... did you read what I wrote? I said we were 5th from the bottom of an 11 team league. The very definition of "Middle of the pack." That, to me, doesn't deserve outrage and claims of getting out of a conference.

If we were 9-3, tied for second, and we got left out? I might be more inclined to agree with you. But when all the teams that go bowling have our conference record or better (and two beat us), I can't really say we deserve to go over them.

RE: Sun Belt Nation: Operation Get Texas State to a Bowl
I'm a father too... and my 12 year old has no idea whether we are going bowling or not because she is not into football. However, any parent of a pre-teen/teen girl knows all too well the emotional rollercoasters that come with this age group.

(as a father) I thought it was incredibly sweet how passionate this kid is about what her father is doing. I think you're stretching a bit Rev by assuming that 'participation' medals are handed out in the Conway home, or that this kid has an unhealthy sense of entitlement. Harsh bro... way harsh.

Is she over reacting a bit? sure. But trust me Rev, as your niece gets older it WILL happen with her too.
As a Dad listening to this, I hear a child invested in her father. That was the first thing she mentioned. I also hear a great deal of empathy for people she obviously loves. So, I respectfully disagree.. this is NOT a bad thing at all. I'll spare you my rant about how a lack of empathy in today's world is just as bad as your complaint.

As for empathy, I imagine coach Conway has spent a great deal of time away from home and it is hard for ANY of us to understand the driving force behind this child's disappointment. We also have no idea what the Conways have told her since. They might have told her all the things you just ranted about Rev. come on.

Preteen Girls emotions can change on a dime. They can cry on a whim, and turn around 10 minutes later and be the happiest kids in the world. We call it Puberty. Posting a video of a 12 year old getting upset over Texas State not getting a bowl bid isn't going to give the Bobcats Sympathy points, but it doesn't mean the coach has a spoiled brat for a child either.

Honestly, I'm not sure what the advantage is to the coach posting that video. I don't think you can expect to win sympathy outside of Texas State fans, who already feel sympathy. No Bowl is going to look at that video and go "Aww look at the adorable 12 year old crying her eyes out, we have to give them a board to keep that adorable child from being upset any longer.

As a teacher, I've made many 12 year olds cry. Its just a hazard of the job.

I don't know what the motivation for posting this was. If they were trying to get an advantage, I agree with you.

BUT,
If they were just trying to show friends, family and fans a cute video that sums up how we feel in an exaggerated way. I understand completely.

The caption on the original post was too cute not to post. It wasn't posted for sympathy.

1) We lost to USA plain and simple, We win that game, we aren't having this conversation right now, win or lose to Ark St.

2) If our zip code started with the number 3, or we had gone to the game 3 years in a row, we would be in.

but we're not, and we won't make a bowl this year, so this topic should be closed.

Why you getting your panties in a wad, Bro. It's just a post on a sports message board, it's not like it means anything, it's not like it changes anything .. It's just another opinion, posted for all the world to consume, but certainly nothing to get upset about . 04-cheers

Does a post indicate to you my panties are in a wad? Is there anything in what I wrote that said I was upset?

I've got no problem with the video. The kid is right. FBS football is not a fair game and its not a nice game. It's full of corruption, greed, exploitation, pecking orders, ladder climbing, elitism, hypocrisy, self righteousness, and sometimes utter destruction of entire programs on a whim. It makes me want to cry sometimes too.

We've got video of UAB players crying over the loss of their program. Why not a little girl crying over a bunch of people meeting a goal and not getting rewarded for it because they aren't "the cool kids". Same thing.

More people ought to be complaining about it than less. That's the only way there is any chance of reform, if enough people get disgusted about it and ask why it is that way.

Now, Don't go getting your panties in a wad,but who the hell made you the "voice of TX ST" that needs to "apologize" for those with a differing opinion from you? It's a sports message board. I was under the impression that ALL points of view were welcome . . .
As far as I Know, you're free to post your opinion as to how " pathetic" you feel some of our Alums and fans are. But those "pathetic" alums and fans have just as much right to post their opinions as you . . . It's still America, isn't it. . . . Land of the free, Home of the brave, and the first amendment right to vent your spleen, if you so choose?

Oh well, atleast we don't give 5 year contract extensions to coaches that improve us from 6-6 to 7-5 in 3 years. Oh well, we should be 12-0 by the time 2030 rolls around.

Y'all tweet that video to the bowls? Make it viral and who knows. I'll help. Point me in the right direction.

But with that said, it looks a little put on to me. It was about 45 seconds before she actually had a tear. And she didn't have many of those. Also, who's holding the camera? She plays with her hair with one hand, and the other is under the blanket. But the camera moves backwards when she raises up.

Fran and our team did what they had to do to make a bowl game in most conferences. We just happen to be in a conference where the same teams go to the same bowl games every year. But I guess we are just supposed to blame our team for bad bowl politics.
