THE LARRY PORTER EFFECT
The real reason that people are fed up with Josh Pastner is because most fans of the U of M are tired of the following:

1). Always hoping to not get blown out by good competition on National TV.

2). Memphis teams looking like they do not know what to do on the floor. This has nothing to do with inexperience or youth. Our newcomers do not have to look like worldbeaters like Kentucky or Duke's freshmen. However, Memphis fans expect them to LOOK LIKE THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

3). I as a Memphis fan am tired of the players being blamed for EVERYTHING!! If you look at most games, the players EVERY YEAR are trying their BEST to play hard. Players are prideful and do not want to lose. However, the coach has to put a system in place and prepare for them to succeed.

That's my vent. I truly beleive that if we lose hard fought games and be COMPETITIVE IN EVERY GAME, CJP would not get people to question his coaching ability.

Memphis should never, never, never, never have to HOPE we don't get blown out by anyone, period!

Getting blown out, not losing, but getting blown out by teams is the reason that Larry Porter got Fired.

TRUTH!

Memphis shouldn't have to question if they'll beat sfa. At home nonetheless.

AGREE! Memphis team top 15 Team all-time (my opinion) should not be beat by any team by 20+ at no time...EVER!

We've seen too many of these games the past 2-3 years...

YEAR 6...with the talent rich city....MEMPHIS should not be rebuilding...

We knew that Joe was leaving two years ago and still we recruited no guardS to be ready

If you put a HIGH LEVEL GUARD on this team and we're top 25...WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GREAT RECRUITER?

RE: THE LARRY PORTER EFFECT
There's a problem with your program when your senior class looks lost and not competitive in the NCAA tournament. That's a huge red flag!

I was a HUGE Josh Pastner fan, but I'm starting to realize that we can no longer blame Tarik Black, Joe Jackson, WW, Will Barton, CC, Adonis Thomas, Geron Johnson, Shaq Goodwin (and the list goes on and on every year) for everything.

This is all I've been saying...MAYBE these players were so good that they HID..THE FLAWS OF THE COACH....CJP got 2.6 Mil...those players got ill prepared for their futures...

Keep in mind that in the past when Memphis lost I would be pissssed like for a whole day. [/align]I think that it's scary that if we lose to SFA, I won't even care.

Almost happy! That a new day is near!!!! The sooner we get this over with, the better! Kinda like going to the doctor & you know you're gonna get the needle....You almost have to get excited to feel the pain, because you know the pain means that the needle will eventually be taken out.....This regime needs to be taken out!!!!!

I will try, my friend. I think that the most frustrating thing about it is that we are not respected anymore. I remember a time when the name MEMPHIS was associated with RESPECT. Now, it is associated with words like SOFT, UNORGANIZED, and BLOWN OUT.

RE: THE LARRY PORTER EFFECT
Criticism of the coach is certainly tolerated (welcome?) around these parts b/c we are a forum that deals with Memphis Tigers athletics and discussion of same.

But to compare a coach who has made four straight tournaments to a coach who (however laudable a human being he is) never finished at .500 or even close is, at best, a false equivalency, and at best a waste of everyone's time.

I see no reason to kick LP after he is no longer our HC
I see no reason to compare JP to LP.

We're going to move and lock this thread. Let's keep our gripes and thoughts at least in the realm of plausible realms. OK?
