@PatrickClaybon
Watts just hit us with the guilt trip that money spent on football isn't money spent on curing cancer. Turning this off.

Interesting - Watts' lips move and Finis St. John's voice comes out.

Using that logic, I'm sure he'll gladly donate his entire salary henceforth to curing cancer. See, money spent on bullsh*t administration isn't money spent on curing cancer.

Watts says he told Clark when he was hired that "everything was on the table" in the study

When you are a coward without honor, it is easier to just read a statement and run away.

Reporter: DId you consider the financial impact of students going elsewhere without football?
Watts: We looked at that and frankly, football has not been a part of undergraduate student's lives. Attendance is among the lowest in cUSA.

Watts: The Board had nothing to do with this decision.

He also says that some on the board wanted them to drop football when Mcgee left, but he and Mackin decided to go through with the study and not let the board influence it.

Of course he did. What was he going to say?

We have good results on and off the field during this study though, and we still shut the ***** Down.

Watts: Had a conference call with the Trustees today. Some are upset with the decision.

That's funny, the governor said it was a board of trustee decision. So has the people at UAB every time I call. The coaches to me. Someone is lying.

RE: Live stream of the Watts press conference
As much as I think this is a load of crock, UAB Alumni and supporters bare some of the responsibility in the football program being eliminated. If the $2 million dollars in donations is an accurate figure, that is absolutely horrible and disgraceful. I know hindsight is 20/20 but what if a UAB Football Foundation had been started a decade ago?

That said, I'm not buying this study at all.

If CUSA turns down UAB staying in the conference, Watts says he has a back up plan:

Reporter: If the backup plan a conference on the level of CUSA.

Watts: We will let you know if it comes to that.

Scarbinsky asked if there's a backup plan for the conference, Watts confirmed that they have spoken to other unspecified conferences if CUSA kicks UAB out

This is full of many rehearsed talking points.

His pronunciation of "This Instityoooshun" bugs me.

He's kind of right. I remember when I was in college and we were actually decent back then and there was only maybe 1000 students attending the games. This was back when GangGreen first got started.

I think it's going to affect our overall applications. I have a patient who works in the admissions office at Auburn and she said that their applications spike tremendously when they football team is competitive.
