I know not everyone will agree with me, and I doubt we will ever do this, but it feels like we should, after their football program got killed by Crimson Tide interests. It just seems like an appropriate gesture. They are the program Gene Bartow built.

Well, maybe not a home and home but playing them in the Forum would be a nice gesture.

We don't owe UAB anything. Same goes to Bartow who left us for Illinois of his own accord. Instead, I would start scheduling one or two Big 12 schools every year (in all sports) for the purpose of developing familiarity and relationships.

We don't owe UAB anything. Their fan apathy (via "voting with their feet" and "supporting the team when they deserved it") allowed the football program to be killed. Neither do we owe anything to Bartow who left us for Illinois of his own accord. Instead, I would start scheduling one or two Big 12 schools every year (in all sports) for the purpose of developing familiarity and relationships. I wish UAB's misfortune would serve as an important warning to our fans, but I know better.

Yeah, it would be hard to support the UAB admin by scheduling them in BB or any other sport. It will be interesting to see where they will land in BB. Apparently they will be voted out of CUSA & I can't think of how they would add value to any other D-1 conference without FB.

If you were to ever have a health-related issue, I would sincerely hope that someone would come to your aid immediately, instead of casually stepping over you on the street and thinking, "why should I help that old guy? I don't owe him anything."

That stepping over an old guy in the street thing happened to me one time. Funny story that.

And we know the BE wouldn't have them either

That may be one of the worst analogies I've ever read. Equating the tragedy of life circumstances to scheduling a basketball game is just sad. I don't have any problem with putting them on the schedule but spare us the melodrama.

RE: We should sign a home and home with UAB hoops
I would be okay with a semi-annual Bartow classic. Bartow is still the only HC to take us to a Final Four that is still in the books. Has to be respected.

But it would have to be on our terms and schedule. UAB is not in a position to dictate terms.

Maybe a neutral court shared holiday tournament event to honor our shared coach? Maybe a one shot.

>>>

The whole UAB thing is a damned farce. If we want to have a discussion about major college athletics being a drain on higher education and say that is why we are killing sports, I am prepared to have this discussion. I am NOT prepared to have a discussion where the Tide kills the Blazers for petty, bs reasons. It's a damned joke.
