I agree it's a slam dunk for both sides. I'm not sure "less stress" is a motivator for someone like Harbaugh. I could see him being a Walmart greeter and the place would instantly turn into a madhouse.
What's your deal???
?
Thanks At Ease. I was wondering if anyone would catch it!
Really great thing USA today did, I just wish we could have seen the private schools too. Anyone wanna try and wrangle up a number to see where our staff falls?
Doc led the third most effective coaching staff on a cost per win basis: http://q.usatoday.com/2014/12/18/cfb-cos...-winchart/

Public schools have to publish the information, or provide it in response to FOIA requests. Private schools don't. It's related to the reason why every major conference has at least one private school.

Owl ... In a number of private conversations, I've tried to make the point that most conferences have at least one private school which allows them to duck certain disclosure requirements. I'm typically shouted down because "public schools MUST disclose their info".
How does membership of a private school allow the conference and member public institutions to avoid reporting requirements ?

If only public schools are in the conference, then conference meetings are subject to public meeting laws and FOIA requirements. Once a private school is a member, the private school can assert a privilege which overcomes those requirements. Any conference proceeding in which the private school participates is subject to the private school's privilege. Some leagues have made the private school representative the secretary so that all official minutes are property of the private school. I'm not sure how well that would stand up to a full-blown court challenge, but so far it seems to have worked.
Would prefer that you not use individual names in posts.
If my math is correct, there are only 14 changes this year. I think the only catalyst for more movement would be a coach going to the NFL.
That compares to 19 the year before.
Across the two years, in the supposedly dog eat dog, zero sum world of the P5, there were only 7 firings, including Mack Brown in that list. That is a shade over 10% across 2 seasons.
Coog here. Looks like Drew Mehringer is set to be our QB coach. Thoughts on the guy? I know he didn't see the field for you guys as a player. Just curious, though.
This is a couple of days old but I see where Rice alum Justin Hill has been named the running backs coach at Tulsa. Also I just heard on the radio that Ted Levine might be headed to UT to be on Charlie Strong's staff.

Interesting. Congrats to him. Does he have any connections to Tulsa? Rice may be unable to give him a spot on the staff right now, but I hope at some point he'll be a candidate for a spot on Bailiff's staff. He played both RB and LB at Rice so should be capable of coaching either side.

Looks like he was at Baylor most recently, so that makes sense to follow Montgomery there. He was an S&C grad assistant.

His CMU record was 26-36, but 20-18 over the past three seasons.
This is really interesting.
A few months back there was an article that discussed how P5 coordinators were too highly paid to take on G5 HC jobs. but then Mensa and Chad Morris did just that.
Now we have a G5 head coach going the other way to become a P5 coordinator? Has this ever happened before voluntarily (given the timing, I have to assume Enos had a an option to stay at CMU. but if he had hired an ex volleyball player as chief of staff..?)

Quote:While it's very strange to see a head coach willingly take a demotion to offensive coordinator, according to USA Today's coaches salary database, Enos was making $360,000 a year at Central Michigan. ESPN's Brett McMurphy reported that Enos will make $550,000 a year at Arkansas. So while the job title may be a demotion, the salary isn't.
