"Recruit says he's dropping Syracuse because..."
"...coaches can't pick up their phones"
Anyone heard of this? Is it a recruiting violation to do so, or something else? If it's something else, this is bad for Cuse & the Conference.
I've been thinking Cuse needs to go after Pelini, so this got me thinking about that all over again.
Anyway, here's the link, it's a short piece:

Syracuse will be looking for a new coach after next year. Schafer is in over his head. It was already a problem having to play FSU, Clemson, and Louisville every year. Now BC has passed them and it appears NC State has passed them.

With the change of OC midseason they are going more 12 packages next year. I heard he didn't fit their new vision...regardless our coaching staff is a red hot mess right now...losing 9 out 10 games will do that.

Yes they will. They will further hurt an already dying football fanbase by making us sit through another year of the HCSS **** show.

With Michigan, Florida and Nebraska open might as well keep him for one more year to see if he can right the ship...you give coaches 3 years.

He was a last minute hire that has shown absolutely nothing except that he is over his head. They are only prolonging the inevitable with an already shrinking fanbase.

1. Find your next head coach - however long that takes
2. Fire your current coach.
Don't leave your team with NO coach.

Mark,
In my opinion, there is never any good reason not to return a commits phone calls, unless it will result in some sort of violation. These kids are young and impressionable and they need constant reassurance from the coaching staff. Even if a coach wants to go in a different direction, you contact these kids, because you are messing with their future, if you dont.
Now I have been a supporter of Shafer and still I still am, because of the solid job he did in his first season, because he had to replace several future NFL players on offense, including the QB, and he still managed to get 7 wins in a new and tougher league. But this situation, not returning kids calls which results in them to decommit is starting to make me second guess myself on Shafer.

It was a one sided article...I'd like to hear what the SU coaches are saying. At the Cuse board someone said they did tell the kid they were moving on. I'm not losing too much sleep over it...he was a marginal recruit in an area we don't usually recruit (St. Louis).

They could have used him. ESPN had him rated as the 177th best wide receiver in the 2015 class.

They were going to use him as a hybrid TE...they are going away from that. Cuse insiders said this was known a few weeks ago (they were rescinding the offer). Obviously, Cuse coaches can't comment on the situation due to NCAA rules...

I suppose he can always accept his other FBS offer from Arkansas State. He's a three star player. Somebody will pick him up. I agree the article was a bit slanted. Maybe the kid's just pissed off or embarrassed that a team with three wins didn't want him.

syracuse is going to have to decide to invest in football
The staff and facilities and recruiting budget is small compared to many in the ACC. THey really need to bring it on. For a program with such a legacy this is a shame
