Rice Baseball: Josh Petitte Eligibility Waiver Approved
According to tweets just posted by Big Jon Duplantier and Josh Petitte, Josh is now eligible for the 2105 season! His first waiver request filed immediately after transferring last Spring was turned down, but I had heard the request was resubmitted last month, and apparently the waiver was approved. Great news.

Just makes our already deep and elite pitching staff that much deeper.

Already lining up people for teams next century? I'll say that's depth.

I just feel bad that none of us will still be alive to see it, and Josh will be like 110. Though I guess it is better than the NCAA making him wait until 2106. Man, transferring's rough.

Smack, you'll be there to see it. You are invincible. I have seen that picture of you in your super hero suit.

YESSSSSSS!!!! I AM OWL, HEAR ME HOOOOOOOT!!

("…One dark and stormy night, after a dozen beers at Valhalla and a quickie on 180, I was cleaning test tubes in Doc Hutch's lab when a large radioactive barn owl swooped down and bit me. "Ouch," I said out loud to no one but that damn owl. The blood-splattered bird spun his head in a full circle and replied, "With great wisdom comes great responsibility." Then he disappeared out an open window. The next morning I awoke in my dorm bed with soft feathers pluming all around my neck! Only then did I realize I'd been humping my pillow in my sleep and ripped it open. At breakfast in the Jones Commons, I was shocked to find myself devouring a small field mouse! Only then did I realize I was in the Jones Commons, and y'know, field mouse. When I got to class, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw "missing" posters everywhere with the image of that radioactive owl! Only then did I realize I didn't actually have a job cleaning test tubes and I'd drunkenly broken into Doc Hutch's lab and let his pet owl fly out a window. "Hmm," I thought to myself, "That damn bird is on to something. With great beer comes great irresponsibility." And thus was born… SUPERHOOTINGDRUNKARDWHOPASSESOUTINHISOWNVOMITMAN!!")

I'm glad I read baseball threads...otherwise I never would have known the origin story.

RE: Rice Baseball: Josh Petitte Eligibility Waiver Approved
BTW, despite the depth on this year's pitching staff and the reality that it usually takes a pitcher 15+ months before fully regaining his command following TJS, I know the coaching staff was hoping the transfer waiver would be approved since he'll likely enter the draft after the 2016 season. This now gives him two years at Rice, though this year he'll likely simply provide bullpen support as he regains his form and his stuff.

Starters: Fox, Duplantier, McCanna, Stephens, Solecitto (if healthy)
Swing men (spot starters, bullpen): Otto, Salinas, Orewiler
Bullpen: Ditman, Teykl, McCarthy, Williamson, Petitte

Bring it on!
