Arkansas State is Sun Belt #4. #1 and #3 are ineligible.

Didn't Texas State also finish 7 - 5 with a head to head win. That would make them #4 and Arkansas State #5 it would seem. And if #1 and #3 were eligible Arkansas State is sitting on the sidelines this post season.

The players and fans that went all had a great time.

Are we the fans really that snobbish now since we lucked into the Orange Bowl?

The problem is that the Go Daddy has declined in quality since 2011 and really since it was the GMAC Bowl. With the change in the landscape, it becomes much more difficult to justify sending the MAC champ to Mobile when there are better bowls in the lineup now.

The current Sun Belt is not the same Sun Belt as 2011 and mix in the fact that you aren't even getting a top Sun Belt team in the matchup and its hard to get excited for this one. The MAC should now be sending its champ to one of the CUSA tie-ins or in future years to the games against the AAC. CUSA today is the Sun Belt circa 2011. The Sun Belt today is the So Con FCS league circa 2011. The MAC needs to adjust its pecking order to better align with conference realignment. Go Daddy is a fine bowl, its just no longer the best game for the MAC champ and the league should recognize that.

This is the first season that the Sun Belt hasn't since the champ to GoDaddy since 2010.

Terrible 2012 featured 10-3 AState defeating then #25 Kent State 11-2
Terrible 2013 featured 7-5 AState defeating 10-2 Ball State.

Sun Belt did its part sending a champ the last three years. Our champ isn't eligible this year. Any quality drop the last two years is the fault of the MAC.

MAC champ used to play CUSA in Go Daddy (fka GMAC) against opponents like Louisville, East Carolina, Tulsa, and Memphis. And let's be honest today's Sun Belt is not close to the lineup that was in place years ago with all the defections to CUSA.

Yeah but those schools are ACC and AAC. The post said gone downhill since 2011. Sun Belt has been there since 2010. Sun Belt sent a champ 2011, 2012 and 2013. It's gone downhill since 2011 was the proposition. Sun Belt won the two "downhill" years so whose fault is the downhill slide?

I didn't realize the Sun Belt only counts league games. Since South Alabama is 6 - 6 I figured they were out of the discussion and Texas State had the head to head out of the 7 - 5 teams. Also based on your logic Arkansas State could be Sun Belt #4 or #6 then since you can't break the tie.

Per Sun Belt rules all tied teams are #4. ULM and Troy #7. Ties aren't broken in football because there is no seeding. All #1 remain #1 and all assured a bowl if eligible. After that placement has no meaning.

Is there a league that doesn't count only league games?

Because they alternated every other year with Detroit for the #1 pick and in 2013 we were in the Orange Bowl.

This year GoDaddy have the #1 MAC pick unless ESPN has a future #1 to swap with the bowl.

Right now here are my MAC bowl projections (no access bowl birth)
GoDaddy - BGSU (I think no matter what the result of Friday that BGSU is going to Mobile)
Montgomery - CMU
Boise - WMU
Bahamas - Toledo/NIU (depending on CUSA team)
Boca - NIU/Toledo (depending on CUSA team)

The Sun Belt today is just as strong as it was before losing some teams. App State, Ga Southern and Texas State are all as good or better programs than FIU, FAU, UNT or MTSU. Ga Southern beat Florida last year and was a few bad calls from going 11-1 this year.

CUSA has a lot of terrible teams and we added two terrible refugees from the WAC.

Arkansas State is really young and has suffered 14 season ending surgeries this season. We started the offseason with one scholarship DT on the roster and lost our Rimington award nominee center to concussions leaving us with 4 new starters on the OL. By the end of the year we were having a hard time putting together a defense with all the injuries and it showed.

The team that beat Utah State and started 6-3 is not recognizable right now. We still have a ton of talent at the skill positions but our lines are young and struggling with injuries. We are hoping we can get matched up with a team like Bowling Green instead of a team like NIU that runs the ball really well.
