When the trustees tried to shut UALR down...
during the Newell era, we fought back, sold a bunch of tickets, and kept our program. I am starting to think this may happen at UAB, but obviously have no idea about the all the politics involved and if the decision is even reversible at this point in time. It is scary that a few folks (trustees) can just take away something that so many people love. While, UAB's fan base may not be huge, there are probably a few thousand folks who live and die with UAB football. Could be a very sad day for them. There are still folks alive who haven't gotten over the Dodgers leaving Brooklyn.

Then you probably don't know that Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Carl Furillo and Pee Wee Reese have retired, and that Walter Alston is no longer the manager.

No, but he probably could be. I think he retired at about 32 years of age.
