This seems about right, esp. with respect to LA Tech's ranking. After watching them play #42 makes more sense than #62 or whatever it was.

Hard to understand how they're roughly equivalent to ND and A&M. They're not nearly that good, and have no standout wins and a couple horrible losses.

I think you're relying on face value with that assessment. Also, from what it looks like, ND fell off a cliff at the end of the season, and wasn't the same team that it started the year as (or it was and the week schedule masked it).

??? They were the same 7-4 heading into our game as we were, with losses to Northwestern State (at home, no less) and ODU, and barely escaping UTSA (27-20) and USM (31-20).

#8 Arizona 26, UTSA 23

There are outliers every season. If you want, when you're in Houston, I'll show you the program I developed about 30 years ago to rate college football teams. It is impossible to have a "perfect" system because every team does not play every other team. But, there is enough data in which one can approximate the relative values.

I'm not questioning that both teams should've been rated about the same going in. But after what happened on Saturday...

Texas Football Power Poll
Quote:6 Rice Owls
Greg Tepper: Oooooof. The Owls went into Ruston, La. and straight-up got their hides tanned. 677 yards of total offense for Louisiana Tech is the most a Rice team has allowed since Houston hung 684 back in 2009. Coming off a 10-win season and a conference title, this year's 7-5 record is a disappointment.
