BOT Question
With what is going on, on campus, and the how today has reached all national media outlets... How can PBJ keep quiet? He's the chair, wouldn't he have to make a comment since it has reached this point? Just curious.

He knows the moment he opens his mouth there will be questions he can't answer. Well truthfully anyway

RE: BOT Question
If UAB people gather in T-Town like tonight, wouldn't he have to acknowledge it?

RE: BOT Question
If he says anything at all, he'd say it's up to the UAB prez & his decision not the BOT so he'd be off the hook officially anyway.

BOT Question
Alright, I'm just trying to figure this out. Would rallying in Tuscaloosa help any?

Only if it's initiated by the Tuscaloosa students

The governor's a toadie just like the rest of the ones on that board. if it comes down to SACS getting in their ***es, so be it. Let the sanctions begin!

RE: BOT Question
it's unreal that a man who's only real qualification in life is that he hit the sperm cell lottery is wielding this sort of unbridled power.

And, I must say, I hate it when deep southern states actually resemble the inbred, tobacco juice dribbling hollywood stereotypes that we've been getting smeared with for decades. For many, this just reconfirms patterns of behavior that we, in fact, eradicated generations ago -- and then we hit ala-f_cking-bama* football.

*poof*. Five decades of progress, instantly forgotten.

*the university, friends. not the state.

UA is up for SACS recertification in a month or so. Who knows what will take place.

Also, things probably would have been different today if Garrison was still here. Maybe?

Not sure. I'm surprised that there have been so many Crimson Tide fans who claim to be as appalled by what their BOT has been doing to our football program. I'd be willing to go there if there's enough actual support for such a move.

If football does get killed, you may see a lot of UAB fans root for AU.

RE: BOT Question
This is not about sports, and we have to keep driving that point across. Any actual UA grad with a functioning brain and moral compass knows this is wrong, deeply wrong. We don't need to turn those people against us.

The 85 Percent, the Wal-Mart-shopping t-shirt fans, the ones who strut around on the day after the Iron Bowl like they played in it or something, they no doubt are at a near-orgasmic level of excitement over the pending destruction of UAB. There's a strong racist streak in their hatred, coupled with an anti-intellectual hate as well.

We need Nick Saban to go public this week with the same sentiments of support he gave to Bill Clark. He despises some of those Trustees as much as we do (recall his public disembowelment of Jim Wilson III).

Damn good post, as per usual. This isn't some football-inspired drama. It is a lot easier to understand if you look at it that way, which is why the vast majority of people do. Its far bigger than any sport or sense of fan-dom.

Yes. A strong statement from Saban would carry massive weight. It would also end a lot of the animosity between some on both sides.
