Question
I have looked into your situation but I can't find out why bama wants to destroy Uab football. Is it just they don't want you to be a potential threat? They need the money? Why do they want to ruin your program?

RE: Question
You'd have to read the whole board. In brief, there are three guys on the University of Alabama Board of Trustees that hate UAB athletics and football in particular. One of them is Paul Bryant, Jr., who is one of the richest and most influential people in the state.

It's about power, abuse of power, and money.

RE: Question
Here's a short version:

The president, Ray Watts, was dean of the School of Medicine. The SOM is leading this attack not only on football and athletics, but the entire undergraduate side of UAB. Major donors to the school of business, Honors College etc. have been told point-blank that their donations must be used for "health-related programs."

Under the leadership of Paul W. Bryant Jr., the Board of Trustees has badly mis-managed growth at the Tuscaloosa campus. They can't sustain what they have built, and need to dramatically increase undergrad enrollment there. Heavy out-of-state recruitment (over 60 percent of their last freshman class) has not been enough. Rolling back UAB's undergraduate programs is a desperate bid to fend off financial collapse in Tuscaloosa, by re-directing undergrads there.

There are two roots to all of this: a) criminal mismanagement of the expansion at Tuscaloosa and b) a childish, zero-sum attitude by some in the SOM leadership, personified by Ray L. Watts MD. They have come together to destroy the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Not its football, not its athletics. The entire university.

Considering what Uab brings to Alabama this seems shocking. Everything I have read sort of had this coded we have to hold information back sort of look of it. Is the press just to scared of bama to cross them?

Because the UA System Board Of Trustees are a collection of scum and human excrement with power and they love to flaunt it in the name of their crimson tide football team, they don't want UAB to have a chance to thrive in the sport they want to dominate and control in this state, they want all eyes and minds on them...Well, they may have gotten more than they bargained for after this...

RE: Question
Just saw about Bartow and Bryant sr. Seems like a crazy old man who told his son to do whatever it takes to get the final thing off his bucket list done.

The powerful people involved in this decision are probably not going to put any of this on the record, at least not intentionally, so it's going to be hard to report on any of it definitively. You have to look at their actions and connect the dots, which is a tough smoking gun to sell for hard news.

I couldn't figure it out, either. everything in the MSM was written in code, or twisted into knots, or written to make it as unintelligible as possible.

the links here on blazertalk are SUPER INFORMATIVE. I figured it stunk to mars, but I had no idea it was this bad. people belong in prison. a bunch of them.

bama football is a huge story in alabama. if you attack it, I would assume you would catch massive blowback.

someone should sticky that description. I would think that you're about to get a LOT of visitors, and they're going to be asking the same question.

that's the best "in a nutshell" explanation I have run across this weekend.
