It's a message board not a moral compass. As long as folks are being civil and not personally attacking one another or intentionally hijacking threads, let them discuss what they will in my opinion. I realize this is a message board but there is still at least some moniker of freedom of speech. Closing threads because you disagree with the topic completely violates the spirit of that. Respectfully, this is my opinion.

and what people don't seem to understand is that if the cartel has enough influence in one state to destroy an entire althletic department, we are all at risk. all of us.

arguing over the empty place at the table is not only missing the point, it's rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic.

the cartel didnt destroy a program. bama killed the program at bama birmingham. they are closing and filling in the pool at their second home. when bama kills the program at marshall. then it will be a cartel kill.

don't feel all sung and warm. when the budget dollars for education in TN get tighter, UT and Vandy will look your way, and you had better be prepared.

totally different system that UT. Vandy is quasi private. If memphis were less than an hour by interstate to Knoxville I would be worried. ETSU football has already been killed in east tennessee due to its proximity and poltical representation. Memphis and MTSU are in the regents system and insulated from the trustees knoxville chattanooga martin system and and we still have some legislators in our corner. we been fighting them for 100 years.

Some in Ruston wanted us to switch to the LSU system to separate from the UL - SISTERS. This proves that would be suicidal.

these may be dissimilar circumstances to most of us, but it's not an isolated insident. it's the first salvo in a war, and if people don't get their heads right about that, and I mean right now, it's going to be over before anyone knows it.

you did the right thing. you were looking at a mini-realignment battle if that stink bomb had gone on much longer. we all remember how that turned out.

RE: **** This Talk of Finding UAB's Replacement
If any UAB fans have links to petitions, email accounts, twitter accounts, ANYTHING that can hell keep the program afloat, please post them here! I want this to be a positive thread, where we will fight for UAB's best interests. Taking this from NATO, an attack like this on UAB is an attack on all of CUSA, including FAU, and other G5 programs across the nation. It's time to start saying enough is enough. If the BoT has their heart set on discontinuing UAB football, then I want to raise enough awareness to the point where BoT members will be embarrassed to walk out their front door.

Yes. But don't get the wrong idea. ULL is NOT the flagship. The "UL system" includes about 9 different universities, including LA Tech. LA Tech is the 2nd oldest (1895) university in the UL system, behind Northwestern State.

RE: **** This Talk of Finding UAB's Replacement
Maybe UAB should file for a divorce from the University of Alabama and become the University of Birmingham.

If South Alabama is asked to be UAB in Conference USA's replacement because they would be playing their old rivals Old Dominion and Western Kentucky.

Agree 100%. There is nobody out there that will replace UAB with a solid bball program and a football program turning itself around having a lot of potential.

As South Alabama is also overseen by the same Alabama Board of Trustees, I would think that they should not be feeling all that secure about their football team at this point.

No -- South Alabama isn't governed by the same Board of Trustees. They have their own.

I remember in the 1980s and 1990s, hearing people around Mobile express gratitude for that. But we had no idea just HOW grateful we should have been.

Do you all not understand English, or are you just ignoring the title of this thread? I mean I know FAU is one of the best academic schools in the conference, but we all know how to read, right? If you want to talk replacements, go to one of the 5 threads about it. Look at the title, this thread is about saving UAB football.
I hate to be so rude, but Jesus Christ can yall think just for one second how UAB fans feel about this. Then they come to the CUSA board, looking for help, and we're already talking about their replacement. Just think if this was your school for a second guys. And please, keep this thread ON TOPIC. Thank you.
