If UAB is really kaput
2 things...

One, potential players become available.

Two, CUSA needs a new team.

For the record, I don't think CUSA would be a good move for us, but I put it here for discussion purposes, as it could cause other dominoes to fall.

Wonder if we ever recruited any of their players given our Mobile recruiting the last few years

CUSA will still have 12 teams so they don't really need to add anyone.

C USA is a downgrade. Outside of La Tech and Rice almost the entire conference just made the jump to FBS in the past ten years.

I believe they have 13 teams after UAB goes. Strictly for curiosity, I browsed the CUSA board to see what they were saying. Wasn't much talk of us. A lot more Sunbelt teams. I think I saw Ohio and UMass tossed around too. There would be no point in a move to CUSA.

That said, I feel awful for UAB's fans and players. I would imagine they all become Auburn fans after this, seeing that Alabama is the devil.

UNC Charlotte is joining in 2015, so there would be 13 teams next season

I was telling my girlfriend how awful this is for the players. They might not even get to play in a bowl game if they are invited. Such ****. I hope they can all go play somewhere else to finish out their careers.

CUSA wouldn't be a lateral, that is a downgrade

Does UAB have any good players the Huskies could look at?

Yeah. All teams have good players. Some not as many as others. We would be looking at guys with 2 yrs eligibility who have shown on film or a coach knows a Fr or R-Fr / soph is developing g waiting his turn. Some are better risks than JCs.

The other plus would be those players would not have to sit out a year and if the program is dropped, there wouldn't be any limitations on where they could go.

I think UMass just found their lifeline for a conference.

Yes.

They will need 1 more to get to 14...but they were at 13 this year so there is not an urgent need to add 1 more.

UAB's situation makes me grateful that NIU has it's own board.

They're getting choked off by a Tuscaloosa-centric board and a grudge Bear Bryant's kid (on the board because of course) has.

Confusa would be a terrible move for NIU.

But I wonder is JMU is back in play for FBS now? They would slide right into the CUSA footprint.

If the next domino to fall is Hawaii, does the MWC make us an offer or do they try to lure BYU or UTEP back into the fold?
