RE: Why Neal Brown's Offense Will Probably Rock & Roll
Switching to spread/air raid doesn't happen over nightas you can tell with what happened at Kentucky. But even with the tools he had for the two years he was there he was able to increase YPG and PPG dramatically. Yes, I believe big physical pound the rock offense could be the cure to the run - and- gun offense but what you saw on Saturday between ULL and TROY was more about being highly over matched in the trenches and inability to make adjustments.

I follow UK closely and have season tickets. I wanted to just give a little insight on N. Brown. Number one he's a first class guy. He's a local KY boy that is thought of highly. Troy was special to him and that's the only reason he left UK. He interviewed on a local sports show today called KYSportsRadio and he went into detail of how Troy was one of the only places that he would have considered. His first child was born there and his wife loves the area.

Some UK fans grew a little frustrated with some of his play calls this year. The knock was he would get tentative during big games and would become was to conservative. UK had a qb this season with a rocket of an arm, but we used allot of screens and short throws. I think it came down to him not trusting his QB to make the needed throws.

I would look for him to hire a good recruiter. In the past two years he's not been a very good recruiter at UK. I can't remember one recruit that brought him up when talking about their commitment to UK. Now if he could bring the RB coach with him you would be in business. I think his name is Chad Scott, but I don't see him leaving.

Overall Troy fans should be happy. N. Brown has a strong desire to win and will work hard to get the ship straightened at Troy. I wouldn't be shocked if one day he's not back at UK as the head man.

You do realize we already know Neal Brown right? He was our OC from 2008-2009

His disciples have all done extremely well (Franklin, Leach, Holgerson) including Neal Brown. He is a direct descendant of the man who popularized the Air Raid Offense. There's much more to this than has outstanding resumes at Troy, Texas Tech, and Kentucky; he has been around the best of the best, and he just may be one of them. Worth a read.

Chad Scott is another Troy guy and former coach. He might consider returning to Troy.
