I've been waiting for that since they completely blew the game against Texas in 2010, leading to BK to ND and the Fla beatdown. Thanks Bo.

Hmmm...

Nebraska has had unrealistic expectations ever since Osborne retired. They erred, I think, in pulling the plug on Solich too soon. But Pelini was a disaster of epic proportions. He's done serious damage to the NU fan base in how he has spoken of them and how he has spoken about the team.

Wonder where they will turn. I could see Brett Bielma making the jump (reportedly things are not happy in Fayetteville...) being a serious candidate. I could also see Randy Edsall moving (he's a prototypical Nebraska type coach) jumping from Maryland.

Guess Bo will be on the radio as an "expert" commentator next.

Scott Frost back to Nebraska has to be option 1. An Oregon style offense in the big ten could really do some damage if he gets the athletes.

Nebraska's gotta be the only school where 7 straight years of 9 or more wins will get you canned.

I guess we can add the entire UAB staff since it appears they will be shutting down their football program this week.

At least the Blazers went out in style, blowing out Southern Miss in Hattiesburg.

Not just shutting down FB... It kind of looks like they're closing down sports...period. AD fired, all FB coaching contracts are terminated, CUSA commissioner Britton Bankowsky announced that CUSA would be terminating UAB's membership in the conference...

I know I said that I thought UAB should drop FB, but...damn...

Clark...the soon-to-be-former HC at UAB...is a good coach. Tulsa ought to be on the phone with him even as we speak.

RE: Coaching carrousel
The fact that he got that UAB team to 6-6 was a hell of an accomplishment. I don't know how much of a look he gets by another FBS program though. He has very limited college coaching experience. 4 years as a coordinator at South Alabama and 1 year as a head coach at FCS Jacksonville State. He could recruit at UAB by getting whatever instate players were left after Auburn and Alabama were done because he had a great reputation as a high school coach in that state. I don't know if he could recruit outside of the state of Alabama.

He won the FCS championship at Jacksonville State, I think.

I know he wants to stay in Alabama... I guess Troy would be the other logical candidate.

He went to the quarterfinals in his only year at Jacksonville State.

Troy just hired the OC from Kentucky to fill their head coach opening.

Doubt if he would have accepted. The guy they did hire was on a 3 year contract. No coach with his background would have taken a job under those conditions.

RE: Coaching carrousel
As an aside...its nice for a change to have a head coach not hungry or hopeful to get to the next level someday and every off season after a good year having to sweat it out. Memphis now living in our former world...

John Martin ‏@JohnMartin929
Fuente: "I've got a lot of sweat equity invested in this program. It'd have to be something pretty special to get me to even look at it."

Dan WolkenVerified account ‏@DanWolken
The good news for Memphis is Fuente's rep is so good, he doesn't have to reach for a mediocre P5 job. Can and should be picky.

If Mullen goes to Florida (not a given, but lots of speculation), I think you would have to consider Miss St as the biggest threat for Fuente. And yes, this is our former world all right.
