Based on watching Tiger opponents this year, I think USF is the most likely candidate to duplicate Memphis' success.

You would have to wait until the conference schedules come out before knowing, because you would need to know who draws a Memphis like conference schedule.

Yep, with easy wins like Cincy and Temple on the road....Wait...What???

03-lmfao

You lost to Houston at home, which is one of the top teams. Let's not pretend that Memphis played a conference schedule like Temple's.

Only if they get the Temple conference schedule.

You lost to Cincy. We can do this pointless crap all day.

Thanks big guy.

However, very unlikely. We will probably be better offensively, but defense could suffer. Then again, we played a lot of young back ups.

SMU

June Jones brought in good talent while at smu, IMHO... All they need is someone willing to guide them what forward really means and their new head coach will do just that.

lol, usf

Try Temple. Temple seems to be the most likely to shock us and run the table for a conference title. Or Navy even.

You could argue we turned it around this year considering last year we fielded perhaps the worst defense in the history of football. Our defense this year is one of the best in the country. Our offense is obviously nowhere near that level.

RE: Turnaround Candidates for Next Season - Your Input
very good chance= tulane, tulsa (and temple if they count)

i think taggart gets fired next season, i dont see usf at all..i dont see a qb on usf taking them to the promised land and they arent improving

temple= they had dominant O 2 years ago with pj a freshmen but then hard horrific D, now they have a very good/decent defense but the O completely collapsed..they could easily put it together next year, and PJ could easily go the route of kevin kolb (very good fresh, below average/bad-ish soph, productive/decent junior, elite senior)

tulane; starting qb=fresh, best physically talented WR= fresh, top 2 Rbs= fresh, top 2 TE's= Fresh, are decent, turnover prove but very decent for a freshmen bunch.. tulane could be worlds different witha team that isnt mostly inexperience freshmen

Tulsa; dane evans as a soph produced the second most yards in the league, their WR lucas a sophmore will be 1st team all AAC, and their junior rb is currently 3rd in the league in total yardage, if they get a nnew coach he will have weapons, and even putting up a mediocre defense could have them a contender

uconn and usf are both young aswell, but neither really improved enough to see either as contenders for next year, uconn doesn't have the qb ready, maybe in 2 years, the best i can see for them next year is maybe 6-6, usf offense hasnt improved much since taggart got their, and the only consisent decent part of the offense is graduating and they are completely unsettled at qb in a bad way

smu is no quick fix, but i do think, 5-6 wins is possible

No, we didn't play a conference schedule like Temple, but I'd ask you or anyone else to compare our conference schedule to UCF's. I think you'll find that they are virtually identical, with all games exactly the same except the Tigers played at Cincy (tied for 1st) and they play at Greenville (very tough team). When you eliminate the conference wide "group think" regarding Memphis' schedule; those 2 schedules are very, very comparable. A case could be made that, based on conference standings, UCF's is a bit easier.

I'm not on a rant at all, but somehow the UCF guys here have brainwashed everyone into believing that their schedule is much tougher than ours. However, anyone who puts the two side by side will see that it's just not true.

Yeah, cause this year both ECU and UCF drew easy Memphis like schedules.

I kind of figured you were referring to UT as the big boy... News flash, UT isn't NO big boy when it comes to basketball, even at their present #7 rank position and UConn at 25th, UConn was the big boy to UT here.

But thanks for playing, San Antonio guy 07-coffee3

ECU and ucf were considered the best 2 teams in the league at 1 point

let me try and put it into perspective.. lets pretend we are back in the c-usa days and that we only had a 12 game basketball schedule...imagine if someone came and won the c-usa basketball championship 1st time in 43 years (lets say rice) but their schedule gave them the benefit of not having to play Memphis or USM.. you'd probably give them credit like most of us with memphis football but like most of us you'd definitely take note and put an asterisk nothing that, you can pretend you wouldn't but you know the memphis fans would

im not here to debate but find it funny you are using the very point they are debating against you as your justification
them= unbalanced schedules gave some teams better conference record than maybe otherwise
you= conference records show we played similar schedules
