UCF @ ECU (GAME THREAD): Pirates get to play the spoiler role at home
Seems like we play better as the hunter rather than the hunted. I think UCF will be 2-point favorites considering how both teams have been playing lately. It's been a while since ECU's been an underdog (Sept. 13 against VT) and it will be interesting to see how both teams come out in this one.

Interesting.

ECU's defense has been very suspect recently. Lots of points to a bad Tulsa team.

I think UCF will score enough and our defense will make stops enough to win. ECU will get their points though.

No. Our first string defense gave up 18. 6 to Tulane. Cincy is our only bad defensive game.

Even 18 to Tulsa is too much.

Their 7 against UCF was thanks to a muffed punt.

No. Memphis' gave up 14 to them. Keep telling yourself our defense has played bad, but it hasn't. One of Tulsa's TDs happened on a 30 yd drive, mark it down to 11, it's like Black Friday in here.

Hard to gauge UCFs offensive capacity even now. On one hand, you think we'd try to run up the score on USF. On the other hand. O'Leary...

I liked #6 playing running back for us - out of necessity but he is a player. It reminded me of the show Mohamed Sanu for Rutgers out on against us in the St Pete bowl in 2009. Imagine if they gave Hall that set of options.

That doesn't make ECU's defense bad though...which was your point. Our run defense is one of the best in the country. So, if UCF fans can talk about how good their run defense is and ECU is ranked ahead of them then...

Rushing Defense

Our corners are suspect but that's not the entire defense...hardly so. Our O-line has trouble blocking which ends up putting the defense out there more than they should.

No, O'Leary isn't going to intentionally run up the score on anyone, unlike some coaches we've played against. Its unnecessary and low-class. But it doesn't mean he's going to take a knee for an entire quarter, or however long it is, either.

But given the injury situation, and our lack of consistency on offense in general, there weren't going to be a lot of points scored in that game anyway.

Neither team is a world beater. I see this a close game until UCF gets the lead late and runs the ball down our throats. UCF by +10. Our O line is not pass blocking for schit lately. If they decide to step it up? Carden and Hardy and Worthy can keep it close and have a shot to win. I'm not optimistic we can beat UCF.

I very much doubt UCF will be favored against ECU. I would go -6 ECU. Hopefully it'll be a fun game. A very good offense vs. a very good defense should be interesting to see. If we don't get some of our guys back from injury, it could be another tough game offensively. Not to mention we've only won at DFS once, and that was 9 years ago. I'm totally bummed I won't be at this game. I had been planning on it all year, but stuff came up.

01-wingedeagle 15 off turn overs (one a blocked punt in the endzone) D gave up only 24 points.

I don't like this game for us. Holman and our run game worry me. Our defense is good but we will have to score 25+ points to win. Hope I'm wrong.

Lol 24 points is a ton especially to Tulsa.

I wonder if the players even think about this? In rivalres like Auburn/Bama, OSU/Michigan, etc I'm sure they think about it but I'm not so sure that happens in the AAC.
