The name of this game is shut down Marcus Thornton. They only have 1 other player in double figures with 11 a game.

reminds me of the CLE State game a few years ago when they had Norris Cole. Cole scored at will all game, but none of their other players did anything.

Finney and Baze were having a hell of a time covering him.

Then there's this gem

Thorton is a great shooter, perhaps as good as Norris Cole, but he is no Norris Cole in regards to the total package.

They did a pretty good job on Patrick Halloway last night limiting him to 4-14 shooting.

I'd put Thornton up against Norris Cole. Finney and Baze believed Charles Jenkins to be better than Cole. I think Thornton is as good of a college player.

All winning a few at this point can do is clutter our new AD's brain and trick him into thinking Hewitt doesn't need to be fired ASAP.

A Larranaga team never would've kept giving up open 3s. Not to say your guys still wouldn't have hit them, but they most certainly would've been contested or guys would've gotten glued to the bench.

Say hello to my old buddy GMUTom. I miss the pre-game and post-game smack talk like the old days on CAAZone.

Not sure how you could miss that guy. He was worse than xJohnx and gave a bad name to the entire fanbase.

Tom was OK by me. P8 and MF were another story.
PenisFan4life and MasonCAA could both be on walking safaries in Liberia/Guinea/Sierra Leone and i could give two Schitts.

Worst guys ever.

So refreshing to see the guys able to seal the deal from the line in these tight contests. We lose both VCU and GMU games without the solid effort from the line.

Our top 2 ballhandlers (Freeman and Bacote) are 88% from the FT line. Add in Mosley and the top 3 guys who will have the ball in their hand are 68/79 from the line--86%

If Palmore can up his a bit, then we can have 4 guys out there you trust.

That amazing thing to me about this team is that it is possible to have 5 guys in double figure scoring. In my book that is the makings of a great team.

Dave Twardzick made that same point at the end of the radio broadcast last night.

You know Dave Twardzick once came VERY close to being the ODU b-ball coach.
Twardzick was also a great free throw shooter in college and the pros.
Dave even set some NCAA free throw records back in the day.
Now ODU shoots FTs pretty well and keeps getting better.
Isn't that a nice coincidence...

Fixed it for you. I love Palmore, but there is a reason why he is on the bench at the end of tight games.

Yeah, I know. But he's a guard and he should be able to make it respectable, especially since it's costing him PT.

Either way though, there were years where someone like Palmore would be the guy on the line at the end of games.

I just finished perusing the masonhoops message board (still nothing on football), and I have to say it sure is much more fun watching opposing team's boards meltdown after a loss than our own. LET THE CARNAGE CONTINUE!

GO MONARCHS!!!

Interesting read. One thing I am surprised about is they don't give a shout out to their new center, Thompson. I see why Jones wanted him. That guy could be a beast. He has a serious upside.
