Hackenberg
I haven't been paying attention this year.

Hackenberg was pathetic today. Has it been like this all year? If so, what the hell happened?

Bill O'Brien made him look better than what he is. James Franklin makes him look worse than what he is.

A really bad offensive line. 39+ sacks messes with your head, sometimes literally.

RE: Hackenberg
Offensive line was bad. Receivers were young. Coaching staff was new.

He is a young kid himself (true sophomore). Last year Allen Robinson (who had a killer rookie season before getting injured in Jacksonville) made him (and Bill O'Brien) look better than he was.

Major potential...and I think next year's PSU offense will look light years better. Entire two-deep comes back on OL (bigger, stronger, older)...entire two-deep at receiver comes back. We lose two RBs but I don't think they are irreplaceable. In fact, our freshmen might come in and make a splash (Barkley, Thomas) and supplement our RB1 at the end of the year (Akeel Lynch). We won't be a top 25 offense magically...but we should easily be top 50 next year with everyone returning.

Penn State needs a couple more years. Their recruiting is back on track now in a good way so give them two years.

Hackenburg isn't all that great but there are a lot of pieces around him that aren't all that strong either.

Geez, it's amazing this team stumbled into 6 wins, and could have had 2-3 more with just how awful the offense is.

Hack's only problem is trying to look like a he gives a darn about a team who's last coach lied to him and current one puts him at risk of permanent injury because the play-calling is that bad.

He's leaving and he knows it, I think. He deserves better...some Saturdays, I wonder how Franklin ever won a game anywhere.

RE: Hackenberg
I was a fan of Hackenburg last year. I'm disappointed with how he's turned out this season but it is hard to give him all the blame based on the previously mentioned supporting cast, etc. He reminds me a lot of Jay Cutler for better and for worse.
