One thing I love about Jones and the team is we don't wine or complain after every foul or no call. Now he'll get fired up, if it gets too one sided. Does a very god job keeping this team focused.

I always know when the officiating is really bad, because that is when you see Jeff Jones chewing on the Refs. If he is going after them, they have earned it. He takes most of it in stride. Remember the T against UTEP last year? For a bit, I thought he might be going for a second and an ejection.

No technical fouls against him this year that I remember, right?

I can't remember one, but I've seen him get a little close.

Not quite sure where this post belonged, but thought this was most appropriate.

I listened to the press conferences of the ISU and MSU coaches after our last two games. I left incredicbly impressed with the quality of Prohm and Muller. Not that my family's genetics would presume a D-1 basketball player, but I would be completely comfortable with my boys saying that they would play for these guys. They appear to get it, the players buy in, and they appear to be quality role models.

I wish Illinois State and Murray State well in future years. I respect their programs even more seeing how their coaches have responded to NIT adversity.

Agree 100%. They are complete opposites of the Marshall and WKY coaches.

Tracking the Jones Progress:

Year Record RPI Postseason
2012-13 5-25 318 Sam Houston Invitational Tournament
2013-14 18-18 164 CBI Final Four
2014-15 27-7(& Counting) 45 NIT Final Four (& Counting)

We all thought that the difficult part was moving up from Top 200 to Top 50. Done. The next step will be even more difficult, consistently Top 30 with multiple NCAA wins and CUSA Titles. So far so good.

45 wins in 2 seasons for Jones.

Unreal.

Indeed. It's also sad to see all the names of formerly active posters who no longer care enough to participate on the site. Its been a nice trip down memory lane, but it also makes me sad remembering how good this team can and should be.

I appreciate the thread bump and memories herein. Simpler and better times. I revel in the triumphs and sulk in the doldrums, but really I'm just here for the camaraderie.

Looks like we're back as a mainstay in the Sam Houston Invitational Tournament.
