So where does Braxton Miller go next year?
http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com...er-oregon/
Quote:Because of J.T. Barrett‘s eyebrow-raising success this season, success that has put the redshirt freshman squarely in the Heisman mix, speculation has been growing that the window on Braxton Miller‘s days at Ohio State is closing. As the speculation goes, Miller will look to transfer from the Buckeyes — as a graduate transfer, he’d be eligible to play immediately — and move on to a situation that would afford him the opportunity to be the starter for his final collegiate season, which may or may not be the case at OSU.
To add to this, he is a graduate transfer yes but that means he would have to transfer to a school with a graduate degree that Ohio State DOESN'T have. That shouldn't be too hard though.
The talk across the country is hyping up for this. Everyone remembers how successful Russell Wilson's transfer went.
Oregon? Oklahoma? Florida? Texas?
He has some serious choices.

Someone on another thread said that finding a graduate degree OSU doesn't have isn't an issue because a graduate degree can be custom tailored at another school.

That is pretty funny if that is true and that a school would actually do that in order to get Braxton Miller for a year. Personally, I don't think he is good enough to do something that questionable but hey, no doubt that some school would be desperate enough to do that.

Barrett just went down with a serious injury. Braxton might stay after all...

I'm not hoping they are both here. Two years in a row we've had to deal with quarterback injuries. Would like to have both in a 2 quarterback system as insurance.

It would be foolish of Meyer to have Braxton start next year. Barrett is equivalent and thus is the better choice for the future since you lose nothing by having him as your quarterback over Miller.
I am sure Meyer probably has another stud in the works or being recruited right now. Talk of Braxton transferring out only helps in that recruiting process.

It's done all the time, and by all schools except the service academies. Fact is, the NCAA really doesn't pay much attention to this rule as long as the losing team is OK with it. Maybe there would be more of an issue if an Ohio State player wanted to transfer to Michigan. But to Oregon? Not so much.

Well I am not familiar with all these supposed instances but I have not researched it nor do I care to so I will just take your word on it unless it is challenged by someone else.
Barrett's injury does throw another little kink into this conversation. The big unknown is how well it is predicted to heal by the Doctors. Braxton will have to make a choice before it heals fully.

I would think Barrett will be back healthy in time for the start of next season, but you never know. If he's not going to be healthy until midseason and Braxton decides to stay, I wonder if Barrett would be willing to take a medical redshirt? That would be a great situation for the Buckeyes if Barrett needs more time to recover.

Barrett already took his redshirt last season. It's not likely that the NCAA would grant a waiver if he decided to sit out next year, not out of medical necessity but out of a desire to help Ohio State's roster management issues. It would be rare for a broken ankle, even a bad one, to take more than nine months to heal.

Kid "might take longer than normal to heal", if you know what I mean? I'm guessing OSU medical staff and/or a Columbus physician would play ball. Case Keenum ended up playing college ball for 6 years, due to medical redshirt. It's not unheard of.
