Postseason Awards
Predictions?
I think Hare has a shot at the Vern Smith. Franklin I think wins FOTY and maybe even offensive POTY, but I could see Hare getting the nod for Vern Smith.

I'd say that's a long shot. His numbers aren't great and idk if he's even the MVP of NIU.
I think Franklin wins offensive, freshman, and maybe Vern Smith. The other guy would be Kareem Hunt. IMO, there just weren't too many great players in the conference this year.
DPOY no clue, but maybe the kid from Miami with 7 interceptions. I guess a meehan is maybe in the conversation having the tie for MAC sacks lead.
I think Wedel wins special teams player. MAC kickers have sucked and I can't think of a return man deserving. Wedel didn't have a single touchback on punts and had quite a few pinned deep punts.
Coach will be Fleck.

RE: Postseason Awards
Drew Hare the top football player in the MAC? I drink the Huskie cool-aid, but to borrow the line from the delicatessen scene in When Harry Met Sally, I’ll have what you are having!

Hare isn't even the best QB on the team.

RE: Postseason Awards
It will be very interesting when they name the All MAC offense and defense teams on how many Huskies make it. Best team in the MAC with the fewest selections. A team with very few stars.

Coach of the Year? PJ does not have a lot of friends outside Waldo World.

Carey should get some votes. To win the West without Lynch is worth something.

Did any team lose more talent from last years team in the conference to this year?
NIU lost a Heisman trophy finalist, a first round draft pick, and another draftee. That's just three guys. They lost their second best lineman, all four d line starters, oh and two first team all conference players were supposed to come back for their senior season and neither played a game in conference.

RE: Postseason Awards
Win the MACC and I won't care if the Huskies get zero first-team selections. Well, yes I would.
A reminder: MAC postseason awards and all-conference teams are selected and announced prior to the MACC.
A victory on Friday would be great. A stress-free victory would be better, but could be hard to ask for.

RE: Postseason Awards
The Vern Smith streak will be ending. But 7 MVPs in 9 years is still pretty solid.

RE: Postseason Awards
The award winners get released at some point this week, right?
Loos and Wedel may be the only 2 we see on first team, even though Rock deserves to be on there IMO.
If there was a most improved player award, Santa would be right at the top of the list.

Detmer from UT will win special team POY Kareem Hunt wins Vern Smith PJ coach of year even though strong case could be made for Rod.

RE: Postseason Awards
IMO Rod Carey should get Coach of the Year...but they will give it to that rowing clown over at WMU.
As far as the Vern (NIU's MVP) goes, it may finally leave the comfort of Dekalb and go to Toledo or Kalamazoo, but I think based on numbers and success Hare should certainly be mentioned.

Apparently no one has noticed that teams always run to the boundary to avoid Meehan, not to mention he is tied for leading the conference in sacks...
