Games the are for Bowl Eligibility today
Northwestern vs Ill. Winner becomes bowl eligible.

Pitt vs Miami - Pitt must win to become eligible. Would be 12th ACC team (Includes ND in count)

Cinci vs Temple - Temple needs 1 win this week or next to become eligible. Could be 6th AAC team

Michigan vs OSU - UM must win to become eligible. Would be 11th B10 team.

UAB vs Southern Miss - UAB must win to become eligible. 7th CUSA team

Cal vs BYU - Cal must win to become eligible. Would 9th or 10th PAC team

Oregon St vs Oregon - OSU must win to become eligible. Would 9th or 10th PAC team

KY vs Louisville - KY must win to become eligible. Would be SEC 12th or 13th team

Tenn vs Vandy - UT must win to become eligible. Would be SEC 12th or 13th team

Hawaii vs Fresno St - Fresno must win to become eligible. Could be 7th Bowl team

- Can Fresno get a waiver for going 6-7 because of a possible loss in CCG? Similar to GT a few years ago or will the NCAA rule against them. Appears there could be P5 at large that need a place. If denied, definitely a slap to the G5.

Theoretically, they could. However, since the MWC already has just enough eligible teams to meet its contractual tie-ins, they may need for all the teams that must win listed above (plus Oklahoma State who must win next week vs Oklahoma) to lose. Temple still has Tulane (3-8) next week, and UT is a heavy favorite against Vandy. If both of them win, it could be an uphill battle for Fresno.

I think Fresno's chances for a waiver are pretty good. Boise is likely going to the Fiesta Bowl, and apparently the MWC has a contract with teh Cactus Bowl to supply a backup. The Mountain West needs Fresno to fill all of their slots:

Fiesta: Boise
Vegas: Colorado State
Cactus: Air Force
Poinsettia: Utah State
Idaho: San Diego State
New Mexico: Nevada
New Orleans: Fresno

(Not saying who actually goes where, just counting teams and counting spots.)

This 6-6 team in a CCG seems to be a common problem in 12 team conferences. Not as common in a 14-team conference. This seems to be an argument to go with 14-team conferences instead of 12.
