Rank our bowl games
I'm interested in what people's thoughts are concerning the appeal of our bowl games. I keep seeing the prognostications and wondering how some teams rate getting what I believe would be a better bowl despite seemingly being a less attractive team.
How do they rank from best to worst in your eyes? (and why)
1) GoDaddy.com bowl (Best bowl experience I've ever had. Warm, clean city. Very nice people in Mobile.)
2) Bahamas Bowl (Location. Who doesn't want to go the Bahamas in Winter?)
3) Boca Raton Bowl (Cheaper airfare should be available for fans)
4) Camelia Bowl (completely unknown experience and location)
5) Potato Bowl (Weather, period. This is a COLD bowl. Even though they treat teams well, they're last on the list)
*With the share system the MAC has and considering I couldn't even find a payout for the three new bowls anyway, I didn't take money into account.

1) GoDaddy.com bowl (Best bowl experience I've ever had. Warm, clean city. Very nice people in Mobile.) I concur.
2) Boca Raton Bowl (Cheaper airfare should be available for fans) Location. Who doesn't want to go Florida in Winter?
3) Camelia Bowl (completely unknown experience and location) Could be a nice time and place.
4) Bahamas Bowl (Location. Who doesn't want to go the Bahamas in Winter?) But who will actually go to the Bahamas?
5) Potato Bowl (Weather, period. This is a COLD bowl. Even though they treat teams well, they're last on the list) Brrr and expensive. Not my idea of a long weekend.

Huskiefootballfan, I agree with your rankings. Camellia bowl gets ranked over Bahamas--passports needed and cost will cut into casual fan attending in Nassau, plus can't imagine the locals will be that fired up; meanwhile, I have been to Alabama and the weather there will be nice enough and while a plane ticket to Montgomery or even Birmingham is not cheap, you can drive there from most MAC locations fairly easily (major highways). Plus Alabama loves football, and the locals may actually go to the game. And Boise flat out is the least desirable--not due to the city or people.

I really don't like that there's a bowl game in Boise, Idaho. I especially don't like that it's a MAC bowl.

Maybe it will be replaced by the Biggby Bowl in Spartan Stadium in a few years.

Personally, I'd love to see Toledo play a Sun Belt foe in Boca!

Most likely it will be a CUSA opponent.

A direct flight out of AZO is JUST outside of our 6-hour radius.

RE: Rank our bowl games
Is there an 'official' ranking after the GoDaddy Bowl? Or is it just all about match-ups after that?

I think they are about match-ups ... previously the official ranking was that the GoDaddy Bowl and Beef O'Brady's alternated #1 and #2 pick annually, but now Beef O'Brady's has become the Bitcoin St. Petersburg bowl pitting the ACC vs the AAC.
According to Wikipedia (so "according to what some people thought was right"), the AAC, Big12, PAC12 and Sunbelt are the conferences that still have a pick order, while everyone else has one or more tiers, from the ACC with a three bowl tier in the middle of their list, through the Big Ten and SEC with a pick list at the top and two tiers below that, the MAC and MWC with #1 bowls and match-ups after that, to CUSA as all match-ups (but one has to think that the CUSA owned Bahamas bowl will get a match-up they like).
Whether or not that's correct (and not just a matter of nobody caring to sort out the rest of the order for the MAC), mostly match-ups makes sense for the MAC, since line-up is against two conferences with match-up tiers, CUSA and MWC, and the Sunbelt with a pick order, with GoDaddy #1 vs SB #2 and Camellia match-up against Sunbelt #3 and last.
