Something is off about Monken. He doesn't act like he wants to be there anymore. Maybe the rebuilding job is too great. IDK. His old team is doing great though.

Is next year's theme going to be Doctor Who or Babylon 5 or something? I'm just trying to get with the program.

Congrats to the Blazers, and here's a man hoping for a bowl game for you...

This was my first game at MM Roberts since the Boise State game in '12. I was on my way back from New Orleans to Atlanta, so I went through Hattiesburg and watched the first half of the game from the west upper deck.

I was impressed by Scianna Hall, which looks to be about 90% done, and sits at the NE corner of MM Roberts. The campus as a whole looks great, if a bit empty. We have lost Feel 'Em Arms and a bunch of other things recently.

I enjoyed myself. You can buy concessions with a credit card. The bathrooms are well-stocked and reasonably empty. Parking is easy. The stadium seems well-maintained, maybe even more so than in 2012. The tailgating scene is still there. We've got a good entertainment product to sell.

The team is bigger and better than the '12 team was. Everyone is trying harder.

Todd Monken doesn't seem to be a very forceful character on the sideline. His demeanor reminds me more of EJ than of Bower or Fedora or Steve Logan. Doesn't necessarily mean he's a bad coach. The hieroglyphic hat/gloves/pants/shirt sign system is new to me.

UAB brought a nice little crowd that basically out-shouted us throughout my ~2 hours at the stadium, and they brought a small but loud band... it may have been a pep band, or maybe they just have a small band.

It was a pep band. The Sound of the Magic City marches about 240.

Thanks for the kind words. My kid was in the pep band Saturday.
