Maybe William Lee.

I'd agree on Franklin getting Vern and PJ for coach of the year. Franklin will also be offensive player of the year. No clue on defense.

NIU honorees
Loos first team
R. Brown and Ness second team
D. Brown second team
Lemon second team
Logan second team
Santa third team
Wedel first team punter

More apt question may be how many NIU players make 1st team all MAC? Loos maybe? Wedel? Rock?

I got Loos and Wedel. I think lemon should be first team, guessing 2nd team though.

Loos -1st Team???

Like it was said earlier - WOW they know how to win. Amazing how many strip balls this team has in key moments. Boomer Mayes with minute and a half against Ohio as Ohio is going in. Corey Thomas today & Folliard today.

We have some VERY GOOD dlinemen. Don't know all names and spots -but DAMN. That is a great foundation for a team. Many unsung heroes in the group.

Yes, Loos first team. He's widely regarded as the #1 or 2 blocker in the conference with Mancz.

Can you name any sacks that were on him or any penalties on him? When you don't hear someone's name a lot at that position its a good thing.

Once NIU scored and made it 21-17 and WMU went 3 and out on their next possession, my thought was "Huskies got this. WMUs rattled."

I was thinking exactly that as halftime approached.

Yes - that's exactly what I told one of my friends - They didn't do anything with their opportunities just like Ohio, and we took control! Glad I was able to see this live!

Agreed we will be light. Loos gets 1st team on name rec, Wedel gets it on performance.

I think Boomer, Meehan and Durante all missing from this list and will sneak on to 2nd or 3rd team as well. Again, maybe more on career accomplishment and name rec vs actual play...Durante esp has had some shaky moments.

Not so sure my friend. This spring is going to get awkward. Hare has proven he can lead this team to victory but needs to make huge strides in his personal development...accuracy, timing, footwork, looking off defenders, play recognition. The natural feeling is he will improve but I also sense a glass ceiling with him too.

What if Root takes a huge stride that often happens from year 1 to year 2? What if he is clearly the most talented of the bunch?

That's for the coach to decide. That's why the make the big bucks. I'm really not all that happy with the progress Hare made during the season. You'd think by now he would make the easy throws, well, look easy. That just hasn't been the case. He missed Akeem twice on third down when Akeem was WIDE open. I was giddy with Hare in the beginning thinking this would be all worked out by now but it is frustrating. He's been in the system for three years now and you'd think he'd have the timing of the screens and other short passes down by now. That should be a source of embarrassment for our offensive coaches. Hare should not be looking that bad on easy throws at this time of the season. But we are winning and winning doesn't suck at all...

NIU's win vs. Western Michigan ties the Huskies with Oregon for the most wins in the FBS since 2010 (55).

This win was entirely the NIU defense. What a remarkable job. NIU 31, WMU 21. On to a fifth straight MAC title game. @NIUAthletics #NIUvsWMU

Gotta hand it to @NIU_Football and coach Rod Carey. Jordan Lynch left, but Huskies still go 10-2, in MAC title game. Impressive consistency.

RE: WMU Game Thoughts
Well, another game, another win that I sorta watched. This team has ratcheted up my personal level of discomfort while watching to unacceptable levels, so I've spent a lot of time this fall with the TV off and following the game on twitter. Yesterday, I got so damn mad in the first half, I was late for a lunch date with some buddies because I started cleaning my house to get my mind off the game. I kept running downstairs and checking the score, getting pissed and grabbing another bottle of disinfectant.

That being said, this team does have balls the size of Alpha Centauri. The CMU game signaled to the rest of the conference that the days of sh*tting your pants and losing to NIU strictly out of intimidation were over (and make no mistake, NIU has won many of those games in the last 3 years or so, especially at home). That's a big reason fans from other MAC teams have come after us so hard on the board this year. They know NIU's vulnerable, but they also know that NIU remains the big dogs in this conference. As I pointed out on twitter yesterday: in the words of Ric Flair, "If you wanna be The Man, you gotta beat The Man."

The Nature Boy has proven that you can look like an a**hole most of the time and yet still be the standard by which everyone is measured.

It was interesting that 7 and others mention 2011. I think that team had it all over this team in terms of talent, but the thing that makes the 2011 Huskies my favorite NIU team of all time is those were the guys that got NIU over the hump. They were the ones that refused to lose (in November & later) those games that always seemed to slip away in the past. This team has provided an interesting bookend to that. They've grown up in that system and obviously (opposing fans readily point it out, too) expect to win every damn game they play in. They don't intimidate anyone, but they get to be a boulder rolling downhil and dominate teams late. The 4th quarter yesterday was friggin awesome. They completely sucked the life out of WMU. The Broncos looked like a punched-out fighter laying on the ropes and getting hit with bombs designed to put them out for good.

Totally forgot Meehan. He's tied for the lead in sacks so he should be first team. I don't think Boomer makes it. Maybe Ford.

Durante has the talent to be an easy first teaser, but makes too many mistakes.
