Sheldon is just 4/11 on the day from the line. Otherwise it's been a solid performance from him

Solid win over a good opponent. 5-1 on the year now, with a huge test coming up on Wednesday

RE: Wofford
What's with the Wofford coach not shaking hands with any Tribe players after he shook Thornton's hand? Very strange.

RE: Wofford
The better team won. Sheldon is a 75% FT shooter so chalk today up to a blip on the radar.

Marcus played like the best player in the CAA.

BTW, where was Tot today?

Couldn't watch the game. This Stat is the most telling. Those go from points to empty possessions. Hit FTs and it's an easy win. I'll chalk it up to a bad night right now. Sean isn't a great ft shooter, but he's not that bad.
I've said it before - there are simply too many good shooters on this team to ever put up the poor ft numbers this team often does. I can't figure it out.

I saw this and was very puzzled as well. Right after Shaver and Thornton, he just cut in front of Schlottman and bailed out of line. I think that's real pi$$ poor sportmanship. Especially from a head coach?

RE: Wofford
Good win. If we make our free throws (especially Sheldon when we were still ahead by a decent margin) that game isn't even close. We outplayed them and other than Marcus nobody played exceptionally well.

My only take away after a few games is that Schlottman is not our point guard unless something changes quickly. Even when he subbed in he was playing Dixon's position. He isn't as good as advertised unless he's still injured.

Tarpey had a solid all around game. 8 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 blocks.

I think that Tarpey is the glue. He does so much that is important to a team concept even if he doesn't handle the ball much and doesn't shoot all the time. Let's keep fingers crossed that we keep improving.

RE: Wofford
This is a quality win against the SC Champions and veteran NCAA tested team favored to win Southern again this season.

We again played hard-nosed defense...the 3-2 zone effective with our long arm guys on the perimeter...Sheldon even out on perimeter making it tough to shoot over him.

Marcus had one of his "holy cow" games. Three remarkable drives featuring contortion moves and flying through the air.

Keep playing this kind of defense and we'll stay tough.

Very good crowd despite no students. Somewhere 3300-3900 i guess.

Reported attendance of 2689. Keep winning and the crowds will grow.

Great win over a solid opponent. Although we did fade down the stretch, proud of the guys for showing enough grit to get the W. That's a big change vs a quality team. Not perfect, but very good. Let's use this as a launching point for the upcoming demanding OOC teams to set us up for the conference run.

This is exactly my take. Yes, we let a lead fade again and shouldn't have. But unlike previous years, we held off the surge by the other team and got the win.

From the Wofford athletics game summary:

William & Mary's 65.6-percent shooting is the highest Wofford has allowed in over eight years

Per Chris Stratton's tweet, Mike Schlotman called out Coach Young for this. Inexcusable behavior for a leader of young men (no pun intended) who would probably suspend his players for doing the same.

RE: Wofford
Thought this was a huge win:

1) Going into the game Wofford was top 50 per some RPI calculations: our signature win to date.
2) Maintained home court momentum and encouraged the modest crowd to return in the future.
3) Won while our bench played like what it is: freshmen! They committed 33% or more of the fouls and turnovers and got less than 10% of our rebounds.

One of the keys to this year is the progress of the freshmen. That they struggled tonight is not surprising. That we won anyway is very heartening.

RE: Wofford
As far as the freshmen go, only Malinowski played particularly poorly tonight. He had some issues with Wofford's intensity when he had the ball, and didn't play a lot down the stretch. The reason Wofford came back was Dixon's foul trouble. That limited our rotation and made it difficult to have 2 of our best 3 defenders on the floor constantly in the last 10 minutes. When he was in, our defense was better and Wofford had problems. Wofford had 3 quality scorers and plays a very physical style of offense and defense. We attacked their defense and got their bigs into foul trouble; 2 of their top 3 (31, 24, 34) fouled out, and their 2nd reserve (33) ended up with 4. At the end of the game we were much better at rebounding because of that.

The refs did a pretty good job tonight. I'll nitpick that I think Omar should have gotten a couple and-ones or foul shots, but mostly it was just a tightly called game. In general that favors our team, I think.

...and a run of really bad foul shooting.
