Officiating for Maximum Dollars
Is it just me or does it seem like officiating has become all about protecting the conference money team? It's been that way in the ACC in basketball for a long time, but now it seems to be an issue everywhere, such as the Arkansas/Mizzou football game.

You are right about the basketball refs. Everybody knew that Lenny Wirtz was on the wolfpack payroll.

They have always done it for basketball.......

and loses don't kill you in bball like they do in football (ie less reason to protect your power teams in basketball.....but for whatever reason, bball has always had that).

Perfer to call it straight up, but in the ACC, bball is 'protect your power teams', in football it is 'drive in parity'

Actually he was on yours as he held his clinic at UNC free from a facility charge for about 20 years, but that's another story. At least attendance at his clinic didn't get you 6 hours AP credit upon enrollment. 04-cheers

Nole, didn't the ACC refs bail you out this year against ND?

Actually that was the correct call but the officials did miss an FSU player taking off his helmet in the end zone after the play.

Look for "funny business" on Saturday night. FSU wins, and the league makes money. GT wins and the league makes less money.

Sorta like the credit hours Glennon received when he went to his no show classes his last year at State. By the Way, TA McClendon says hello.

You fool, Glennon graduated with a degree in Business in May of 2011 and the online classes he took in the fall of 2011 were GRADUATE school classes, not fake AFAM classes that had no syllabus, did not meet, and with grades given by the office secretary.

You cheated like hell for decades with fake classes in AFAM, in Drama, in Philosophy, in Exercise Science, etc., etc. I should not even say "you cheated" as you likely don't have a degree from UNC-Ch. I do.

I have two of four degrees from State and UNC, I know the truth about what was set up for some UNC athletes.

You need to keep your mouth shut and not attempt to play this particular game as what was allowed to go on over there was criminal and destructive to the University itself, the athletic angle is small potatoes compared to the morons who allowed that mess to balloon into something that calls into question the validity of every social sciences degree handed out at UNC over the last 15 years.

Biology, Chemistry, and the Professional schools will keep their reputation, but Arts and Sciences has a 10 foot pike sticking in it now.

Tech better have good supply of Astroglide on the sidelines. IIRC it will cost the league $5 million if FSU loses.

RE: Officiating for Maximum Dollars
The lost revenue depends on whether 2 teams go to NY6 bowls. Playoff pays $6M but Peach/Cotton/Fiesta pay $4M so as long as FSU gets into one of those the cost is "only" $2M (spread across 14 teams)

That's a valid point, the worst FSU can do is the Peach if they lose. I thought that semifinal winners got an extra touch of $5 million, but maybe I am wrong.
