NIU wins 5th straight MAC West Title!
Ugly game but somehow we won. Lots of turnovers on both sides.
The defense won this game without a doubt. We held a high-scoring WMU offense to only 3 points in the last 3 quarters.
Now let's get payback against BGSU!
Go Huskies!

RE: NIU wins 5th straight MAC West Title!
Though I was hoping for a UT-BG rematch, congratulations on another MAC West title!
I've always liked playing NIU; seems that every time BG and NIU meet it's a huge game (2001 when NIU beat an 8-0 Urban Meyer and ranked BG team; the 2003 Gameday game; and of course last year's MACC). It's like the UT-NIU rivalry, but BG has proven to be able to beat NIU. Before moving back to the East I thought we had a nice little rivalry going, almost makes me wish we were back in the West. Almost. I guess I like BG having a really good chance at going to the MACC every year without necessarily being all that good, or really any good, like this year!
NIU fans have always come off as classy and I'm happy for you and your tremendous program. See you next week!

Thanks, congrats to you on another MAC East title. I agree, it seemed like we had a rivalry going with BG before they switched divisions. Hopefully this year we get payback for last year. But funny things seem to happen to us in that dang dome.....

Ball State's big 41-24 win on senior day at BG today puts the exclamation point on the dominance of the MAC West over the MAC East this year. Cards outscored the Falcons 34-3 after the first 5 minutes of the game. Wow!

In the last 5 years NIU is 3-2 vs CMU and 35-0 vs every other team in the MAC during the regular season. Has to be one of the most, if not the most, dominant 5 year run in conference history.
Interestingly though, during this run NIU is only 2-2 in the MACC without a dominant win. A total 2nd half collapse by Ohio in 2010 allowed NIU to come back from 20-0 at the half and win on a late FG 23-20 and then in 2012 it took 2 OT to secure a win against Kent St. Will be interesting to see how NIU and BG match up.

Did BG beat a single West team? Did they beat anybody in conference that had a winning record?

Absolutely amazing domination. If this program were in Ohio they would get some respect.

Weird things typically happen when NIU goes to detroit.
2010, receivers dropped would be TD passes, Miami caught a deflected ball on their last drive, and the DC called a terrible blitz that resulted in the winning TD.
2011, NIU committed almost every possible blunder in the first half, but they hung around and when Ohio started shooting themselves in the foot, they took advantage. Kinda similar to today's game in some respects.
2012, NIU dominated in terms of yards, but they turned the ball over and Kent got the benefit of the doubt on some would be penalties. Ultimately, the better team won.
2013, NIU just got beat straight up. BG outplayed us plain and simple.
2014, who knows. Probably another close game, but if it's similar to the game we played against Babers' EIU last year, it should be fun.

Curious, where would NIU go? SB appears to be the only open slot for a conference. Not what I would consider a step up. Don't see MWC or AAC expanding anytime soon.

Give NIU some credit in the Ohio game, they got after it in that second half. NIU collapsed in the first half and Ohio took advantage, the exact opposite happened in the second half.
NIU kept Kent in the game, that was a collapse for it to even be close in the game. That 2012 game was statistically and physically dominated by NIU, but not on the scoreboard.

You are asking the same question twice, AFAIR, the answer is going to be no, no matter how many different ways its asked.
