Of course, the important point they are missing is that if they could beat NIU themselves, they wouldn't have to worry about it.
Come on, could we beat NIU with Thomas at QB, let alone Corey Davis at QB. That's basically what Toledo had to do, and it was still a nailbiter.
To me Toledo is the best team in the league. Came down to timely injuries.
chipdip is an ass!
I'm sorry. I simply can't paint a turd and call it a gold nugget. NIU is not good and you guys know it too. I could just as easily see you guys in 4th place with a 6-6 team. Sometimes it's just better to be lucky than good. NIU was very lucky this year. Timely injuries, crazy bounces, nutty finishes.
I just hate to see the MAC represented by this team. I'm afraid the announcer is going to blather on about Lynch, the 10-2 record, the Orange Bowl, etc. and then some team like Marshall puts 50 them, and then those P5 fans tuning in will say, "Damn the MAC really blows."
Nobody is that good in the MAC this year. You shouldn't mourn because NIU is representing the MAC West....you should mourn the down year.
+1000. Just go out and do your best in the bowl game.

Agree.
I bet we beat NIU 3 times out of 5 tries.

You could have avoided that global catastrophe simply by beating NIU, which should have been very easy based on your comments.
Win or lose it doesn't change my belief that NIU is not a good team. Eventually, the streak of good luck, timely opponent injuries, etc. will run out. I can see some poor team thinking Carey is a genius, scooping him up and he becomes the next Turner Gill.
Seriously, I've never seen a team like this. A dual threat QB who can barely throw downfield, and doesn't do much when he runs the ball. A fat running back who gets winded after one quarter of carries, and a pedestrian defense.
Yet, 10-2? It's freaky.
Sounds like you're prouder of your 8-4 record because you think you won the beauty pagent over that disgustingly ugly 10-2 NIU team.
I'm happy with our season, but not happy that a team with a garbage QB, a pedestrian running game, and a vanilla dope of a coach has won the MAC West.
Years past, I understand. This collection of talent, I just don't see it. It's really a sad year for the league. Kind of like the year that Akron and UB won the MAC. A prayer pass, and a BSU team that nobody even recognized.

Not compared to NIU beating us 6 out of 6.
