RE: The problem with UAB fans
Lee is very quick and anything that he can do instinctively, steals, blocked shots, he takes a shot and and often does. He plays decent, not excellent defense, and he rebounds. On offense, he still seems a little lost, like he does not quite know where his spots are or who will feed him the ball.

Mostly he's young and raw. Half a season will take care of at least some of that.

...is that while rooting for the best school in the realm they are otherwise one of the most confused and self-hating fanbases in the history of intercollegiate athletics.

If we lose football then the fight is over. Without football we will simply regress into a Auburn-Montgomery kind of irrelevance. Keep D-1 football or Bust...literally.

You are wrong. Football is a battle in a much bigger war.

But you may be right. The war will be lost if everyone quits the war after the football battle is over.

MB, a lot of that is pissed off people blowing off steam. I know for a fact that there is a core of UAB people whose efforts to smash the BoT as it currently exists will redouble fueled by hatred if our football program is closed.

Agree. It will only change the battlespace and tactics.

If they drop football, how many other sports would UAB have to drop because other conferences don't carry certain sports? Would different sports be in different conferences or what. How does this work?

Start with 85 to 100 women's scholarships that are only there because they offset the football schollys under Title Nine.

In general all your sports are in whatever conference you are in. There are exceptions, take a look at who plays in C-USA soccer for instance.

RE: The problem with UAB fans
It will not just be the 85 FB scholarships lost by our Athletic dept., but the loss of one of the two REVENUE PRODUCING sports we have. How many scholarships (and in which sports) can UAB afford to support without FB? It has been mentioned that other schools in other states have dropped FB and not reduced scholarships in other sports, but they are in far wealthier states than Alabama can support in its present funding structure.

Besides, if the medical side is driving this bus expecting to increase their income at the expense of the UAB athletic program, they probably won't be satisfied by just ending football. They will want it ALL.
