Liberty Coach: Vad Lee Was Interested In LU... No Thanks
Liberty head coach Turner Gill said that Vad "sent his [transfer] release" to Liberty, expressing at least some interest in possibly transferring to LU. according to Gill, they were satisfied with their current QB situation and "didn't entertain" the idea. interesting. while i wouldn't expect him to say anything else, this was brought up by Gill unprompted... no one asked him about this. part of his opening "monologue", if you will.

he also mentioned 4 keys to beating JMU:
1. play well early, mentioned JMU's explosiveness on offense
2. win the turnover battle
3. tackle well, especially against Vad who is very elusive
4. hold JMU to 64 or fewer plays

i found this last point FASCINATING, considering we're averaging 82 plays/game. unless my math is wrong, the fewest plays we've run in a game was 69 (excludes punts and FG's... and Blaine Stewart's "spike" on the FG) against Albany. that's an ambitious number for Liberty considering it would be a season low and WELL below our average. we ran 74 against Stony Brook's excellent defense if that gives you an idea.

a reporter also alluded to a tendency for LU opponents punting rugby-style line drives. i took this to mean these opponents have had success doing so. will we follow suit?

Gill ain't the saint LU like to make him out to be. And he was likely canned if they don't block the kick.

Pay him no mind.

No where close to being gone. Vad
Vad's LU interest was likely in part due to his close friendship with LU WR Gabe Henderson.

LU turned down a couple of good QB's they turned down a kid from the school I was coaching at the ended up in Memphis as well. So bottom line is they hitched their wagon to Woodrum and so far, its paid off. Gotta see how far he can ride that pony

Ha. If Woodrum has better stats than Vad tomorrow it would be more shocking than a 20-point Liberty win.

only stats that Vad may have more of, is on the ground as he is a dual threat kinda kid, feet can hurt us. But don't be mislead, Woodrum CAN pick move a little bit too, maybe not VAD like, but kid can keep you honest

So you're saying Vad won't throw for BIG yards?

Thats not what I said or he said, the question was that Vad would have more passing yds, and the answer is NO the reason is this, both teams IMO have suspect defenses, and I have a kid on the team and said it. The difference to me is that IF LU is behind Woodrum will have to pass the ball more to account for behing behind which would give him the edge in yds. Now am I saying Vad won't throw for big yds, guess it depends on what you think big yds is. Ill def say he throws for at least his weight and thats around 225

exactly, people don't realize Vad is 5th in the NCAA in passing yards with 3,323. he also threw one fewer pick than Woodrum, despite playing two additional games.

Vad is the total package and his versatility is an absolute nightmare.

So is this what you're trying to say? If so, please do us all a favor & ease up the posting rate. No one cares that your QB might throw for slightly more yards in a losing effort. Why would you bring that to the discussion? It's value-less.

Before, you come at me, pls comprehend the question that was posed. Thats why and only why I posted with the response I did. So go back reread the original question then come back and apologize, lol. Or would you like me to break it down for you in layman's terms. Sheesh

This season's stats:
Vad - passing: 3,323 yards, 29 TDs, 6 INTs, 61.4%; rushing: 769 yards, 8 TDs
Woodrum - passing: 2,521 yards, 20 TDs, 9 INTs, 63%; rushing: 253 yards, 8 TDs

And this was Vad's first season in a passing offense... Personally, I'm glad that Withers gave Vad the chance to come in and compete with Birdsong instead of just sticking with a decent QB.

I read Drew's question again, but I don't think any differently. I think you're unintelligent & you post too much.

Glad Birdsong stayed a while to attempt to win the starting job from Vad lol.

Woodrum might be a little more accurate but other than that its no comparison , Lee is better.
